I thought that a thread like this was a good way to get to know some people here. Besides, all these Religion vs Science threads are driving me up the wall.

So, what do you look for in a partner (significant other)? Is it personality? Looks? Money? What is it about someone that attracts you to them?

Personality is the most important thing to me. I don't let looks define women, because the personality is both infinitely more important and infinitely more interesting.

That and I couldn't see myself marrying somebody I don't get along with.

An interesting personality, a personality to supplement me, a strong will and a fascinating mind. Well, i wont be complaining about a preference for frequent kinky sex either. ;)

Love just happens. Dont have to look for anything, sometimes the person has everything I could ever imagine wanting but I still dont fall for them for some reason. Other times I fall for someone who has none of the qualities I would imagine wanting. I gave up trying to define it, when Im in love Im in love, who cares why.

In my vast experience on these matters, you don't look for anything, they just come along and find you and you click.

My ideal man is impossible, because he's ideal.
My partner is my soul mate, not much about him is like my 'ideal', but he's caring and there for me at every step.
He's supportive and lets me get on with things, but is there when I need a hand.
He cheers me up when I'm down and puts my feet back on the ground when I'm too far in the clouds to notice.

OK, let me set this straight: I can't be fussy, cos im not that lucky, so anything with a pulse and legs, not sporty, similar music taste, faaaaairly good looking, not too chubby or short, but definitely, MOST IMPORTANTLY: a lovely personality and somebody i can talk to.
I also like creative/ alternative types, e.g. that foreign exchange art student who likes alternative and prog rock...(that unfortunately doesn't exist, and wouldn't be into me even if they did.)

its nothing to do with superiority, its just that tall chicks often look streched and too lanky. not sure why but thats just not a physical characteristic that turns me on... :confused:

Personally I'd prefer a partner about the same height as me. I also like blonde hair for some reason, although the girl I like has brown hair, so it's not that important to me.

My ideal partner would be good looking, and also warm and loving and caring, and open-minded in a billion ways. ;) As far as a man would go, they would also be kind of quiet and rebellious, someone who took my breath away the first time I saw him and made me just want to hop on his motorcycle and ride away into the sunset.

I would settle for average or even not-so-great looks, respect towards me and towards my friends, and yes, he still must have an open mind.

To be quite honest, I'm not exactly sure what I am looking for in a woman yet... I haven't really thought about it enough.

I need someone who is my intellectual equal -- someone who values knowledge and intelligence as much as I do. I need someone who knows how to laugh, but always appropriately (a sense of timing is what makes a good sense of humor). She needs to be sharp and witty, but always uplifting.

She needs to be socially mindful and graceful -- she needs to scream "class" from every pour of her body. It would be nice if she had a snese of style and knew how to dress well.

She needs to have a stable personality and be mature; she can't be childish or a foolish risk-taker. (She must make up for my lack of decision and nurture me into a state of sensibility.)

She has to be loving, kind, understanding, gentle, always willing to listen to me and always expecting me to listen to her (living up to her expectations will give me more meaning).

Yep, Pluto, I'm in the new digs now. It's a pretty funny little town. The local bar is only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The video store has a sign on the front that goes like this-
We are open from 9:oo to 7:00
If Sarah opens it might be 10:00
If John opens it will be open between 10:00 and 11:00
If Jane opens it will be about noon.
If they are all gone the son-in-law Skinny will be in charge.
He runs the the machine shop next door.
We will be open these hours unless we are shopping, hunting or fishing.
