The eye.......the Eye......the EYE! Just FYI, this post is about an eye (Small pics)

We see here Manutes first appearance in the Sin City novel A Dame to Kill For on page 38.

As you can see, he is clearly missing his right eye and has a synthetic replacement. So I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, I have decided to circle it.

In Manutes next appearance, on page 53, he clearly has the right eye that he was previously missing.

Again, I have circle it for easier viewing.

Later on in the novel (Page 100, 101, or 102, I'm not positive) he loses that right eye in a fight with Marv (Marv dominates this guy). It is stated plainly on page 122 by Marv, who also mentions that he restrained himself and didn't kill the guy. We're talking six months in traction, tops.

Anyway, the next time you see Manute, on page 172 when Manute is in the afore mentioned traction, he is again missing the eye (It makes sense now, since it was ripped out in a fight with Marv).

Once again, circled for your pleasure.

So, let's go over this from the beginning. Manute has no eye. This is clearly seen the first time he appears. Then, what is a few hours later in the novel, he has both eyes and no indication that he's had eye-replacement surgery in the past hour. He loses the eye again later on, but that is explained. What bugs me is the lack of, then not lack of, his eye in his first and second appearances. Is anybody else bugged by this?

Later on, if you start being driven mad by the beating of a heart-get help immediately.

Call me a 'trekkie' again and I swear to God you will not wake up tomorrow morning. That is not something a Star Wars fan takes lightly.

Besides, when's the last time Star Trek had Jessica Alba as a stripper?

wasn't she that green chick who humped kirks leg in that mental institution.

besides the sin city that has alba as a stripper(who never seems to take anything actually off) is the movie, you're having a nerd fit about the graphic novel... so practice your vulcan nerve pinch fanboy, cuz you're already half way down they slippery slope that ends either in learning klingon or designing your own cos play costumes.

(responding to first post) I don't know the book, but couldn't it be possible that his first appearence was a flashforward or something?

I don't think he was calling you a Trekkie as such...I think he was just pointing out that you have characteristics which are generally associated with trekkies, such as noticing the minutiae of your favourite tv series/videogame/graphic novel.

But did you like the graphic novel?
Or was it spoiled by the eye?

Ah, but Sauron's Eye (http://www.focusmag.gr/id/files/2831/The%20Eye%20Of%20Sauron.jpg), currently borrowed by Myrth, owns all!

Her character, Nancy, is in every Sin City novel in the series (Including this one). The specific novel you're thinking of is The Big Fat kill.

Haken Rider, nope, it's not a flash forward. It's all chronologically straight.

Demented Hamsters, the novel rocked. I loved it despite the eye.
