Australian rules football especially when the Hawthorn hawks are playing :).
Hockey is a classic, has great contact, lots of on-the-fly tactics, passion, grit, and is definitely the MOST fun to play.

My favourite sport is Rugby. American football comes in a close second due to the similarities between the two.

Rugby. All else pales into insignificance. As to that blasphemous comment, Gooooold, I laugh at you. There are very few similarities between RU and NFL. RU games are faster, harder, and far more fun to play. The average RU team is a far greater bunch of athletes than any NFL team, as evidenced by the utter trouncing of the Americans at both American Football and Rugby when playing against real sportsmen, rugby players.
But then, I'm not at all biased.

Once agian rowing, rugby's better than American football but it is nothing compared to rowing. For one thing rowing is so much more physically demanding, its ike the 5th toughest sport in thw world, rugby and soccer is way down in the 90ties.Sorry if i seem 2 be picking on rugby, its just cause in my school rugby players get all the glory, rowers do all the work

Baseball was my first love as a kid, but hockey has quickly become my current favorite. To me it has it all.
Physicality: Nothing like a hard body check against the boards
Finesse: The beauty of a "one-timer"
Athletisism: Ever tried to make a kick save?
Sheer Brutality: Let's drop the gloves, chucklehead!
Character: Most hockey players are great guys, even the minor league players. My son has a birthday this weekend (he's gonna be 6) and half of the local minor league team is going to be at his party. Ask anyone who has interviewed hockey players and they'll tell you they're the most down to earth guys in sports.

Australian Rules Football. Then soccer. Science, too, but not many people consider science a sport.
I'm crazy for soccer, Calvinball, and Hatchetball, a game that me and my friend thought up involving a hatchet, a soccer ball, and a slanted garage roof.

Of the ones named on your list though, Hockey is my favourite. Speed, Power, Precision, Strategy and a Good Clean Check.

Football (the proper kind).
IMO, no other game requires such a mixture of skill, sublety and strategy. To that person who said that football was like the 90th easiest sport to play, you are just plain wrong. It's the most popular sport for a reason, and also, it's just so simple to start up a game.

I agree that Football requires a great deal of strategy. But, American "Football" is on a whole other level. It's extremely complex in its offensive and defensive schemes.

Fencing and Fives. Damn, I sound really public school now :( . Fencing is great because it demands extreme precision or movement as well as good footwork and tactical thinking...and you get to stab people :D .
I don't understand how American Football can be more popular than Rugby...
Oh well, I voted for Hockey anyway, but then, I'm Canadian, so it's almost obligatory. I suppose one important distinction to make though is if you're looking for the best spectator sport or the funnest sport to play. I think Hockey wins either way, but it could make a difference to some people :D. I like playing cricket, but find it intolerably boring to watch. (Real) Football, on the other hand is actually fun to watch, but I've never really enjoyed playing it much.

Anyway, if I am to watch live, hockey is great. I mean... I hate hockey, but if I'm there, I get so into it... I also enjoy Canadian football as a spectator sport...

I really like water-based sports, but only cause they're the ones I compete in.
Rowing, outrigger canoeing (waka ama), dragonboating (just won 5 races today!). That's competing though. I find it boring to watch.
Also Weightlifting and Powerlifting, also because I compete in them (well powerlifting, never competed in weightlifting, but I do enjoy watching it).
I enjoy watching gymnastics, for the incredible skill and agility. Wish I was 1/4 as good.

Although I saw extreme dodgeball on Challenge TV before the race today and damn it's entertaining!
Basketball's pretty cool, though I hardly ever see it. Call it football. By football, I mean what the vast majority of people mean when they say football, and shouldn't have to clarify.

Hockey for sure, with football(world) and Canadian football in a tie for second. NFL is boring as fuck: run, run, pass, repeat. I only watch because I like certain players(Vick, Cullpepper, Farve, Moss, etc.) and watching them play is like seeing god up close.
As a side note: NASCAR IS NOT A SPORT!!!! For christ's sake, if the athlete has no control over the outcome(and it's all about the vehicle in motorsport) than it's not a damn sport. I like F1, but by no means do I consider it a sport. Sure, it's hard on the drivers and all, but really that doesn't make it a sport in my mind and I really don't see how people can call it a sport. Not only that, but Nascar is boring to watch, christ, guys driving in circles for 500 miles, no thank you, i'd think i'd rather recite the Communist Manifesto ten times.

Then you, sir, know nothing about the sport. You're just a spectator looking for a good time.

Oh, really? So, the drivers never bump each other, intimidate other cars in packs, drift, and follow each other? Methinks you need to do a bit more research.
NASCAR definitely is a difficult sport, one which requires precise timing and finesse to achieve victory. It's boring to watch, though.

Oh really? so, if I have a signifigantly better car than you, I won't win? I suspecet not.
Unless you cheat (like Richard Petty), you can't have a better car. All you can do is tune it differently. This shows that you really know nothing about NASCAR.

I'm now going to bitch about NASCAR:
It is not a sport!!! Well, alright, I suppose, technically, it is. But, unlike the proper motor-sports (I'm talking Le Mans 24 hr or F1) these are a group of over-powered understeer mobiles driving in circles!! CIRCLES!!! At least I can enjoy the spectacle that is an Audi R8 ripping down the de la Sarthe at nigh on 400km/h... but NASCAR... please... and believe me, the drivers don't lose however much you said, 10 kilos or whatever... if they did, then they'd be dead. Believe me.
