I've thought about dying my hair to make it pure blonde again, but I've never really gotten around to it. My hair is blonde, but it's a dark shade. It was extremely light when I was younger, though.

I dye my hair quite regularly, to fit the mood, or just to go with the new style i'm adopting. I'm somewhat of a chameleon and like change... a lot.

I dyed my hair blue once. I have dark hair already, so I really only had a blue highlight. The looks I got made it worth nearly dying my face blue. :D

While I, personally, would not change my body even enough to get contacts (for reference, wearing my glasses is "showing off my bling), the guy quoted in my sig as becoming adopted dies his hair to a beautiful effect, which might affect me if I weren't juggling two men who's IQ's might combine to be equal to the only guy who I've ever given two shits about (currently out of HS two years and a year away from getting his masters at CMU).

I went through a phase when I had bright red streaks in my hair. Since my hair is black, my history teacher started calling me "the anarchist." Maybe he's a prophet?

Then I had furiously magenta streaks. That was awesome.

I need to dye my hair. I was thinking of a single streak on one side, dying it blue maybe. The problem is I have REALLY long hair now.

Purple is always extra hot. Go with a darker purple; it'll blend with your black hair nicely.

The only problem is that it colours everything. Your hair is the last place which will be coloured...Cover everything, use a lot of moisturisers on your skin etc. It comes off easily, so if it goes horribly wrong you're not going to suffer from it more than few days.

Those don't usually change the colour of your hair completely. If you want bright green, blue or anything like that you have to use permanent dye (and suffer from the fading greyish blue, not nice) or -use food colouring! Cheap and entertaining :D

My hair is so blond that I always have to dye it twice before the result is noticable enough.

Odd, I've used them before, and gotten a really great, bright result, maybe because my hair was lightened to a sort of gold colour with the bleach? The only downside is that I needed to redo it every couple of weeks.
And... nah, I'll pass on food colouring ;). Too much hair anyway!

Bleaching does help a lot. But I don't want to do that because it ruins your hair. And as you said, it needs to be redone to often.
I wouldn't bother with food colouring either (anymore). It was funny back then but I don't have any reason to do it anymore. I very rarely even dye my hair. Just stripes or highlights.

:( I used to have extremely blond hair but now it's getting darker and darker. I'm turning into brunette. (not quite) That happens to almost all blondes.

Same here. My hair's not gotten darker in the past few years, and you can still see blonde highlites. I think the darker shade looks more distinguished.

And, I've got the blonde bonus: Ultra-thick hair. Well, it's a bit of a double-edged sword. My showers take forever... Sometimes even 45 minutes! Thick hair kicks ass and sucks it at the same time.

My hair was super-blonde as a kid, then it naturally got darker, then it got even darker cos I don't go out in the sun enough (not a summer fan :p ). So I dye it blonde occassionally. Then I go and pick a random coloured dye (pinks my favourite atm) and get my best mate to dye random parts of my hair (she works at Toni and Guy, which is pretty useful :D Free hair stuff!!)

Sadly, the Irish are a people who I am convinced are not destined to have nice hair. Keeping it shorter keeps some of the "lion's mane" effect in check.

hahahha. this thread is funny. i , for the record have dyed my hair since the fourth grade. the blue dye got me thrown out of school for a week, and really pissed off my parents. since i was born with this awesome black hair, that got wicked light as i got older, i have been at war with it ever since i was 9. right now, its jet black, and dark green. favorite hair ever? blue , black and red 14 inch liberty spikes in the ninth grade.
for the record, if you do it right with professional grade products, and use very good conditioner after, bleaching doesnt ruin your hair. (the home kits from the drug store will thrash it) i have done it for almost 20 years now, and my hair is great condition.

Ahhhh AWESOME! I think my first post has been ignored, cuz ppl were talking about natural dyes at the time, but I've got my hair streaked blue, cuz that's my favorite color! It looks a lot like Illyria from Angel, even my natural hair color is very close to hers. See, this is her:
http://home.planet.nl/~daoud010/fok/illyria.jpg
My hair is actually a bit healthier than hers, though.

I DON'T use professional grade products, just cheap stuff from some "black" store around here, cuz they don't have cool hair dye in mainstream stores 'round here. I have to redo it every couple of months. I tried professional hair dyeing, but it cost $120 and it only lasted 6 months! This way I save about $15 a month, and my mom will gladly pay for it. Heh. I'm homeschooled, so I don't have to worry about the Nazi dress code student rules of conduct crap. *Giggles hysterically.*

I've streaked my hair torquoise blue, deep blue, light blue, BLUE BLUE BLUE! I had this thing going for a while where I had a little red and gold in, and it looked pseudo-patriotic. :D I think next I'm going to do red and black, if I can let go of my obsession with the color BLUE! NOT LIKELY! :p

My advice: whatever your favorite color is, bleach your hair to where it is so blonde it's almost WHITE, than use Kool-Aid to die your hair your favorite color. I hear that it washes out easily, but it may rub off on furniture and stuff.
