The older I get. . .

. . .the more I realize I care less and less about things. I look at most of the debate threads and although they are interesting enough to read I just can't seem to summon up enough passion about any of it to post seriously. When I was young I believed in things strongly enough to argue over them, now, meh.

Anybody else experiencing serious burnout or am I a lonely soul here?

Actually, I'm the opposite. Didn't care much about anything when I was young, now I'm into everything.

It's NS. You finally reach a point, after being beaten over the head with debate for months, were topics seem bland and boring.

There are especially certain topics (homosexuality, death penalty, Shiavo, abortion, gun control) where reason generally is drowned out by emotion and the debate is little more than back and forth shouting.

Those threads will wear on you quick unless you are one of the ones who enjoy the shouting match.

All the linking to articles and citing of sources, arguement and counter arguement. Tit for tat and in the end everybody walks away pretty much believing what they believed to begin with.

I don't mean to knock the debaters, I admire their tenacity, I just don't see any benifit. Now if onyl somebody would pay me cash money to do it them I'd motivate my lazy ass. Because the only thing that really makes people content and happy is money.

Occasionally, someone gets pwned though. It's worth the wait.

I've found all the talk in the world won't solve the first problem unless someone actually does something.

Debate is pointless.

Yeah, I'm old and bitter.

It happens. I've been around here for two years now and the debate threads can definately get old. My advice is really take a break. Maintain your nation but don't worry about the forums for a bit and then when you finally come back on there might be something that sparks your interest again

It happens. No matter how much you like something, if you do too much of it for too long it will get boring.

Welcome to my world-I've lost the ability to give a damn thanks to my childhood of bullying. I lost the plot completely for a while and went psychotic on anyone who bothered me...

...Of course now i'm over it, but I still have that "don't care" feeling. It's a good feeling though. Nothing concerns me any more. Except my family.

i mostly just have all my opinions set. i can discuss it but i'm not interested enough to bother citing sources or to flame back at some kid who has anger problems. i certainly dont care enough to jump on the 100th thread on gay rights so i can be first to go over the same 10 points yet again.

I'm fairly new to posting let alone debating on NS, but reading the threads alone can burn you out. It's not so much that i don't care per se as it is that the topics just don't interest me that much. Most of the debate topics are ones where no matter how much discussion is put forth no one is going to change they're minds. Unfortunately for me, i can't seem to come up with my own ideas to debate about - i guess i'm just that boring.
