Viz was funny to read. Sick and silly. But not my fave.

I used to read the Beano a lot. I loved that comic. Then I grew older and saw the repetativeness. :(

Of the poll options, Bloom County. But no Calvin and Hobbes?

Sorry. It just didn't spring to mind. Besides, do you really need any options other than Bloom County? It's clearly the greatest comic strip ever.

You people who voted Garfield better be under 8 years old.

Sometimes. I just didn't think this poll through too well. Sorry. Hey, vote Myrth if you don't like the other options.

I've voted for a classic, Peanuts! :)

Of those options listed, I'd have to go for 'Farside', with 'Peanuts' a close second - anyone here read the old classic 'Peanuts' strips, circs 1950s and 60s? Absolutely brilliant stuff. Charlie Brown is such a fantastic anti-hero.
Bloom country comes in third, losing by a nose - though considering opus' nose you'd think he'd have won it by a nose.

I love Viz; my favourite part is Letterbocks and Top Tips, though some of the strips are hilarious too.

Out of the above list, I chose Peanuts, but I loved Garfield as well.

I think Far Side's the best, but I do like the others.

I really like 'Fru. T. Bunn the baker and his gingerbread sex dolls', as well as 'Drunken Bakers' which is funnier if you read several of them in a row. The sheer banality of it becomes humourous. It doesn't have a punchline per se which adds to the appeal. It does make one wonder why the Viz writers have it in for bakers though.
'Mrs Brady' can be bloody hilarious at times. I'm so happy they sell it here in HK. It was one of my greatest worries moving over here.

You forgot Rogers Profannisaurus which is a fucking riot.

You can tell just from the fact that the majority of us like Far side that we have a bunch of twisted sickos on this forum.

VIZ has to be the best comic ever...and apart from Mrs Brady, old lady, I think The Fat Slags "Ohh lordy", is totally hilarious.

You forgot Rogers Profannisaurus which is a fucking riot.Good point. I actually have the book version of it - bloody brilliant. Favourite strip is probably Fat Slags...I really don't know why, I just find it a screech. I agree about the Gingerbread Sex Dolls and Mrs Brady too. God, I love that rag. My subscription has run out and I'm devoid of money. I shall have to invent a birthday or something for myself so some dear soul will renew it for me, cos it would be tremendously difficult to do without it!

Calvin and Hobbes is undoubtedly the greatest comic of all time, but the far side is close so it can have my vote. Oh, and Dilbert is hilarious.

It may only be three votes, but Garfeild is up to 12%. Disturbing.

Bloom County kicks ass though.

I'm not voting, as none of my favorites are on the list. (Does Tintin count as a comic strip?)

Wait a minute. Myrth isn't a comic strip, it's a NS moderator. Or am I missing the joke?................

*grumbles* That Calvin and Hobbes isn't on the poll borders on the sacreligious. :headbang:

I'll be the millionth person to say it... but yeah, nothing comes close to Calvin and Hobbes... nothing.

Perhaps it was left off because it would have been unfair competition. Yeah, that was it. :)

How many of you have even read Bloom County? Is it before your time or something? I can't beleive that it's only gotten three votes.

EDIT: Make that 4 votes.

I've actually got a copy of the last strip, with Opus roaming through the empty town, hanging in my office. It was an awesome strip.

Agreed. Those who haven't seen it have missed out on something truly great.

Far Side is not a "comic strip", it's a single panel cartoon. [/assholish nitpickery]
