Do you play (pen & paper) Role Play Games?
If yes, which one do you play, and which ones are famous in your country?
Is RPG famous in your country at all or are there a lot of prejudices about them ("cultist services" etc.)?
And where do you come from how old are you?
I myself started playing "Das Schwarze Auge" ("The Dark Eye") some month ago and it is really fun to me!

Couldn't you make this into a poll?

mhh, rather wanted to know in which way RPG is different in different nations.
Now it is too late anyway.

EDIT: Ohh.. it is not too late!

I've been a tabletop (pen and paper) gamer for many years, starting with "Marvel Superheroes" from TSR (back in the 1980's) and playing a lot of Star Wars: The RPG (West End Games).

In the 90's, I even worked for a famous RPG company, White Wolf. Great company, great games, check 'em out if you haven't.

Haven't heard of them. (I'm German, if they do not publish in Germany (or have a completely different name here, it is quite clear I have never heard of them.)

I used to. I played D&D, Warhammer, Shadowrun, Star Wars, the whole WOD series (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Changeling, Wraith), RĂªve de Dragon, Agone...

Quite a few years ago there was a sudden surge of anti-rpg feeling here in France, with everyone suddenly becoming convinced that, if you played rpgs, you would commit suicide. (??) So you can now only get them from specialised shops (whereas in the UK, for example, you can buy rpg books in bookshops).

France. I'm now almost 23, but I played from the ages of 13 to 20, more or less.

The only RPGs I've ever played were online stuff, like Dark Age of Camelot. But that for me involved a lot of pen and paper stuff, as I worked out statistics and stuff for everything I did. -shrug-

I've played Warhammer 40,000. I have a Chaos Space marine army. Very fun. I still play every now and again.

That's not a pen & paper rpg, though. I was referring to the pen & paper version of Warhammer. Where you play an individual character.

Oh. Well I've played dungeons and dragons. I was an Elf. I've also played the pen and paper version of Dungeonmaster, and I played the dungeonkeeper. No one ever did beat my ultimate dungeon... :)

Hehe... I can imagine it was particularly devious, knowing you.

The only "proper" PnP RPG i've played is FASA's Mechwarrior (or what ever the new name is,classic battletech roleplay or soemthing).

GW's inquisitor is sort of halfway house it has certain elements of PnP but also uses huge ass minis...

Minataurs at every corner, Goblin Archers in almost every chest, and The Boss was a demon. One guy once got to the boss, but it mauled him. I was crowned the School dungeonmaster. After all, I beat everyone elses. :D

I myself started playing "Das Schwarze Auge" ("The Dark Eye") some month ago and it is really fun to me!I don't play much RPG these days, what with it not being worthwile for the GM(/rolemaster/whatever) to run a game just for little old me (most of the 'old crowd' not being around any more) and so instead we resort to various forms of Wargaming instead...

However, in my 'heyday'I was an avid player, and the aforementioned GM was an excellent 'host'. Didn't do much straight {A}D&D but did do a lot of Star Wars, Space 1889 and Babylon 5, especially, together with a lot of hybrid/free-form systems.

I used to play a bit of D&D in 8th and 9th grade, but I stopped. I've also played a little bit of Inquisitor, and a lot of Star Wars and Star Trek RPGs.

OK. This is a long time ago. I played Blackmoor and Eldritch Wizardry, which later evolved into D&D, then into AD&D. I was part of the infamous Kings College group that was mentioned in White Dwarf Issue #5.

I have not played for nearly 20 years now, but I still have the manuals etc, to pass on to my son if he wants them.

GURPS! How I loved GURPS...source books for that game could be found for anything...I remember having GURPS books for Conan, Witchworld, Cyberpunk, 3 dozen historical settings, half a dozen future settings...all sorts of things. I wonder if Steve Jackson ever got his computers back from the FBI...
