You've said it all already. You're ruled by your ego. :D Maybe I could extrapolate that there is some internal incompleteness at work here - that you're craving some external validation to supplement your feelings of self worth because your spirit/inner Anikian/pop-psychology buzzword of choice requires nurturing. Maybe it needs that nurturing so that it can grow and be more self-sufficient. When it's self-sufficient, perhaps then you'll feel liberated from the shackes of needing external validation. I think that's what Maslow meant by Self-Actualisation, but I disagree in that Self-Actualisation is an end point. It's should be a daily process, like brushing your teeth.

Starting such an ego-centric thread says to me, at least, that there's more going on under the veil of "All in good fun." Otherwise, why? Any other reason: For fun? To stir response? Because I was Bored?; they are all just post-hoc fabrications. Forgive my seriousness in approaching this thread. When people ask for opinions (which, by default, require analyses to occur) I have trouble resisting the urge to analyse.
PS I know it's gauche and amateurish to bring up Maslow, what with his being such a cliche, but I like the philosophy of Self-Actualisation. Ockhams Razor that it's so simplistic.
