If so what do you like to cook? I love to fry things. I'd fry anything and it would turn out to be PERFECT! I am the king of fried catfish.

Yes-I love to cook.

Wow-I havent had Yorkshire pudding in ages. My mother made it when I was a kid with roast beef and mashed potatoes/gravy. When I read your post, I tastsed it again.
Isnt it kind of tough to make? Like popovers-dont they collapse if you arent skilled?

You know my little cinnabun wrapped in twizzlers pull n' peel, we should cook something together. That would be quite fun!

I cook almost anything, but my favorite is bread (hand kneaded and baked on stone).

Baking bread is therapy for me.

I was single for a long time, and it was either learn to cook well, or eat microwaved burritos until I burned out my colon.

I remember one time my stove broke and I had to grill breakfast and dinner every day for a year. That was kind of fun actually.

Yes I do, why do you ask?

I used to, before I had kids, and cooking became a chore that I have to do no matter how I'm feeling. Now I hate it. And shockingly enough, I've discovered that all the wonderful cooks of my childhood and early married life (my mom, grandmothers, and my mother-in-law) ALSO hate cooking. They're great at it, but it's just a job to them, because it falls to them to do it the most. On the other hand, we have my father, my grandfathers, my father-in-law and my husband, none of whom HAVE to cook all the time, and so ENJOY cooking on the rare occasions that they do so. Weird, huh?

By the way, with all but my husband, that difference came from traditional gender roles. For my husband and I, the cooking usually falls to me only because he works out of town two weeks out of every month. When he IS here he helps out equally.

I havent baked bread yet, but I do make home made pizza dough-hand kneaded and made into pizzas and calzones on a pizza stone in the oven.
I had to get the peel as well as corn meal to slide the pizzas on and off the stone. Its a friday night ritual with the family.

The first Thanksgiving with my new mother-in-law, I offered to cook the turkey. Suspicious, she still let me do it. Now I do it every holiday. Everyone agrees the bird tastes better, and the women are thrilled at not having to cook anything.

My wife likes to cook from time to time, but she likes the freedom of saying, "could you cook supper tonight?"

I like to cook - I don't see it as work.

I think this happens when the women kind of assume the role of the constant, day in day out meal prep-it becomes a drudgery. And the husband cooks when he is inspired by something, so its a treat for him.
Years ago, thats how it was in my house, but with our current situation, I prepare about half and my wife prepares the other half. This way, we tend to be a bit more creative and the kids are usually a bit more interested.I'm also talking about breakfast and lunches for school. My kids eat home made food, not cafeteria stuff.

LOL. I microwave everything. I eat tons of frozen dinners. I don't mind if a girl wants to cook for me, but it feels like I'm expecting her to take care of me and it makes me feel guilty.

Neither did I...until, as I said, I started having to cook for my children so often. When it was just me and the hubby (and before that, just me), I cooked or not depending on my mood. Now the mood doesn't matter...the kids still need to be fed:). It's become one more task I need to fit into my day, and it's been hard with the hubby away so much. However, it sure does make me appreciate how much help he is when he IS home...

Its a great feeling, huh? I dont see it as work either. I'm pretty secure making a good living and playing an active role in cooking a healthy and usually interesting meal for the family. "Providing" isnt just 9-5 and a paycheck and come home to have your feet rubbed. I have no problem doing the shopping, and meal planning too. I like to be proactive and participate-everyone seems happier, stuff gets done and no one is stuck in a rut.

Good to hear. It would be so much easier just to give them the $2.00 to buy school lunch, but I'm capable and I try to give them every advantage possible. I surpised them with vegetable sushi the other day. More often sandwiches, or home made soup or chili in in a thermos in the cooler weather.

yeah-you know things are bad when you see your colon from time to time.

I used to let mine down into a basin of clear cold water, and wash it, just to keep fit. Then after I patted it dry with a towel, I inhaled sharply, and it would automatically retract in one big zip.

Excellent cook here.
My specialties are roasts and dessert, but can cook almost anything. I'm great at improvisational cooking, where I combine a bunch of things that shouldn't go together but do when done properly.
Also rarely if ever use a recipe

I love cooking, it's a great drawing point for women.

But seriously though, when I went to college it was basically live on the vilest of swill imaginable or learn how to cook. So, I made it one of my life's goals to be a truly good cook and I'm not doing too bad towards that end if I do say so myself.

i love to cook -- fancy dinners, messy bbq, big holiday meals, whatever -- it's all good. i'll try most ethnic styles, or just go home and see what falls out of the kitchen cabinets and throw something together. (sometimes that works better than others.)

but cooking is a community thing -- if you come over, you'd better be prepared to devein shrimp, or slice onions. everyone gets equally messy.

and desserts...i make the best cheesecake anywhere. sorry, but that's just the way it is. :D
