What would you have done if it had been you?

I'm not, I wouldn't qualify. I'm female and not catholic, two major turn-downs.

They wouldn't like me as pope though, I'd reform too much, they'd "remove" me sooner or later.

I'd change Catholicism into an atheist religion, and allow birth control, abortion, and euqal rights for women and gays. Also I'd ban celibacy. Nobody would be allowed to remain celibate even if they want to. People would be required to get laid at least four times/year. It'll keep everyone a little more easygoing and laid back.

Man I wish I was the new pope ..

I would make 'Popemobile racing' the national sport of the Vatican City, and I would rival the cardinals in wacky races around the sistine chapel.

The church bells up the street have been ringing for at least 20 minutes now (11:30 am, Central Daylight Savings time, U.S.)

I guess I'll have to turn on the news at noon and see who it is. I wish Christianity could be more about what Jesus taught and less about Paul's organized religion. Accept other people, don't go around condemning others, work more on your own morality than on your neighbors, etc.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger from Germany is the new Pope according to MSN.com.

If I were Pope, I'd push for strong discipline for the Church's sex scandals and for equal rights for women and homosexuals. I'd also ease up on the restrictions on condom use and ask for a more strenuous campaign against AIDS.

Am I the new pope? Nope.

If I were - I would first disperse a substantial amount of the amassed wealth of the catholic church to support the 25% of the people of the world currenly living in poverty. Second, create a much more informal atmosphere and liturgy. Third, stress "Do as you would be done to" over "Dogma".

If I were the new pope I'd:

1) Read the Bible. (It might be necessary.)

2) Follow the teachings of what it says inside, such as be kind to the poor, nonviolence, and do unto others as you would have done unto you.

3) Add some changes of my own: emphasize personal freedoms like gay rights, slackening celibacy, and birth control. (I'm anti-abortion except when necessary, so birth control is a good idea.)

4) Retire after a few years because it's hard to be Pope when you're atheist.

Great idea to give the amount of wealth away...two problems the church's wealth would only feed the 25% for a week, and the church itself is running in the red.

If I were pope,

I'd open a new investigation on priest abuse scandals. At the same time I would work with victims, and not pay out million dollar settlements which are bankrupting the church. I'd also reinterate the teachings. I'd continue John Paul II's legacy on working with other denominations to create a better friendship and understanding. I'd continue to travel around the world and work with countries.

There's wut I'd do in a quick nutshell. For now though, let's focous on the real deal..Pope Benedict XVI...VIVA IL PAPA
