It was my only party-My 8th birthday. My school class actually threw a party for me. I was so happy-I also got a Buky 'o hare action figure, which was a cartoon I loved at the time.
Since then all my birthdays have sucked, and i've just gotten a year older.

My next one is in two days, but I doubt it'll be anything special.
I'd have to go with my 21st, as I was with the girl I should have married.

I came for the slime sticks.
My favorite was probably my 12th. A lot of people came over and we played a lot of games. It was fun, and besides, it was the first party I'd had in years! I've had a few birthdays since then, but I remember that one the best.

aw that sucks dude :(
but Buky 'o hare did rock! you know it :D
my favourite was either my 18th or my mates'. for mine we went to this place called CharBar in Portsmouth where you cook your own burgers, ribs, steaks n stuff (*drools*), we got drunk, ate loads, went back to southampton and went down the pub.
my mates was a house party with about 30 people there, shitloads (and i mean shitloads) of alcohol, plenty of weed... it was like something out of the movies;). needless to say it ended up... bad. kids in the guy's bother's year at school were coming up to me and saying 'wow its the dude who got totally wasted at Pete's party' :p (i wasn't nearly the only one that monged, so its not that embarassing)
but since being at uni, fewer parties :(

Guess my 16th birthday since it still meant chance (followed closely by my 18th):
16th: I got my I.D. card, was legally allowed to buy and drink beer and smokes (although I didn't start smoking till my 18th birthday which is 10 years ago) and could finally go see more movies!
18th: Pretty much the same thing, only that I got my driver's license and could see even more movies (and rent all the good stuff), buy hard liquor and was able to vote.
Other than that - every new birthday just adds up numbers and although the parties are fine, nothing much really changes anymore otherwise...

My 21st...I just relaxed and did bugger all the whole day. I'm a bit boring :)

My best birthday was probably my 22nd. I had a load of friends out and the whole night just moved comfortably from restaurant to bars to club. My 21st was good too, but I had a digicam by my 22nd and so I 'remember' more of what happened!

My 13th, or Bar-Mitzvah. I got a party with some 70 family members (thats right, lots of cash!) and a ten day trip to Italy. I recommend telling your parents that you've become Jewish and you have a bar-mitzvah next month, it'll soooo pay off if you can convince them.

When I turned 23. The love of my life called me at midnight on my birthday to wish me a happy birthday. I thought it was the most wonderful thing anyone has ever done for me. We were in different countries and I thought it was very special knowing it was about 4am in England and she was awake calling me on a wednseday morning.

Um... the one I had in Malta, I guess. That was fun. I love that country.

There's two that spring to mind:
When I was 4, we were living out in the middle of nowhere (there 9 families in the area, 7 of which were Maori and related to each other - the other was a old Canadian hippie and his family). My mother took me into the town (a 40 minute drive away, population about 4000. It was the biggest town I would see until I was 6 - we lived in very small isolated places), where there was a supermarket called '4 Square'. I was convinced that they had named the shop especially for me to commemorate my birthday (I remember being extremely disappointed a year later to see that they hadn't changed the sign to '5 Square').
While inside shopping, the manager came up and wished me a happy birthday and gave Mum an ice-cream birthday cake (blue icing naturally). I of course was under the impression that this was a gift, and in no way considered that Mum might have to actually pay for it.
Back home, we had a big birthday party. Most of my class came - it was pretty easy for them to do so, as we were living in the school house right next to the school gate. A very enjoyable time.
The other one that was special was in 2000. 3 weeks previous to my birthday I had met a charming young woman from Taiwan who was in NZ studying English. We started sort of seeing one another - coffee, that sort of thing.
When she found out it was my birthday and I was planning on doing nothing, she was horrified. Taking matters into her own hands, she came round, cooked a meal for me and gave me a full body massage.
I should mention at this point that her parents are chefs who own their own restaurant in Taiwan and that she was a fully qualified (and PROPER) masseur who owned her own beauty saloon. So it was hardly beans on toast and a quick 5 minute back rub.
So it was a incredible night being totally indulged like that. All five senses were pretty much overwhelmed.
And no, we didn't have sex that night (that came a couple of months later) in case you're wondering. To tell the truth I was so satisfied and content, I didn't feel like it.
This year I (a Kiwi) ended up smoking Hookah in a Turkish bar (with Thai waitresses) with a friend from Uzbekistan and having cocktail after cocktail. Only in Hong Kong.

I'd have to say the one in 1983. I was stationed in Korea and wanted to desperately to get home for Christmas to be with my wife and son. I got on a space available flight on the weekend after thansgiving but didn't get out of the orient for better than a week.(stuck in Japan the whole time, and no I couldn't tour the country, I'd lose my place in line.) Any way I got home on my wife's birthday, the 7th of December, and celebrated mine on the 16th, and didn't have to be back in country until after the new year.
On a sad :( note I am no longer married. But every birthday I can spend with my children is a treasured one. :)

I think I turned 7, it was at the public pool. My grandma, who made wedding cakes for a living, made me a cake shaped like a race car. Not a profile of a race car, but an actual 3D race car with Oreos for wheels. She never took a picture of it or I'd show it to you. I'd love to show it to you all, but I ate it...

My 31st birthday was my favourite of all time. I know you're thinking, "what's so special about 31?" My "milestone" birthdays usually sucked (21 was anti-climatic, I had a bag stolen at the stadium on my 25th; my 30th was extremely low-key; 18 was eh), so I figured it wasn't going to be too hard for number 31 to be better than number 30.
The morning before my birthday was a Friday so I didn't have to work on my birthday. Anyway, I had only told a couple of people I worked with that my birthday was coming up, including my boss (who was shocked I was approaching 31), so I didn't expect too much attention. Anyway, my boss brought in a birthday card signed by everyone... that had pictures of Stevie Nicks on it! I normally don't keep too many greeting cards, but I have that one guarded like it's got national security secrets.
Anyway, after work, I went to my usual restaurant for weekend-starting commisseration and booze drinking and followed that up with a trip to a strip club. I actually got carded at the door the night before I was turning THIRTY one, and then got a chance to enjoy the "show." Interestingly enough, I was wearing my Fleetwood Mac t-shirt and several of the dancers commented favourably about it... and one of them was even counting down the minutes until midnight.
Saturday morning, I got two checques totalling $200-plus and some other stuff and I got a reprieve from my usual weekend tasks. Then I went to karaoke like I normally do on Saturday nights, expecting to get perhaps someone serenading me with "Happy Birthday" and maybe a shot. However, several people dedicated songs to me or mentioned me by name and I was announced as "the birthday boy" each time I went up to sing. Two of my karaoke friends even sang Stevie Nicks songs because she's my favourite artist. It was awesome, and definitely a far cry from my 30th birthday when the high point was seeing my father clean up after dinner even though he cooked.
