Okay I'm looking for really cool duets, and I don't mean in the classical music sense of the word, but I can't really come up with any.

Help me

EDIT: I forgot, it has to be man and woman

Um, here are a few.

Engel: Rammstein and a singer I believe is called Bobo
Barcelona: Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe

That's all I can think of for now. Tricky's album Blowback is full of great collaborations, particularly with Ambersunshower. :)

That's either "I Got You Babe" or "The Beat Goes On"

There's also that one by Sinatra "Something Stupid", as well as "Time of My Life"... the list goes on... you're bound to get something good out of this.
(I'm assuming you have to keep them more or less G-rated)

Other than the ones mentioned here, you could also try Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue (Doing it for the kids) and the duet from "Moulin Rouge" with Ewan MacGreggor and Nicole Kidman.

I would do broken by seether ft/ amy lee cuz they rock and stuff like that. or do a whole new world lol.

you could pretty much do any song. all you have to do is sing the notes into your range. Me and my cousin do bring me to life wich in case you didnt knwo is a man and a woman. and she sings the guy part and i sing the girls part. so just look around basicily. if you need more help send me a telegram. im located in wild north winds and I'm teh rouge nation of chastitybelt. well good luck you could do things in another langue to that normally scores you big points.

Willie nelson has the best duets.

Two great examples: with Lee Ann Womack on 'Mendocino County Line' and with Susan Tedeschi on 'Crazy'.

Dwight Yokam with Sheryl Crow on 'Baby Don't Go'.

Huey Lewis with Gwyneth Paltrow on 'Cruising'.

Keith and Heather from Teen Idols punk covering 'When You Say Nothing at All'.

Gwen Stefani and Bradley Nowell (before they were famous) on 'Saw Red'.

Damn, I don't know... there are so many! I'm glad someone said Fairy Tale of New York though - that a rad song.

I really like the one Bjork and Thom Yorke (hey! They rhyme - Bjork and Yorke!) did that was on the 'Dancing in the Dark' soundtrack.
"I've seen it all"
Works better if you've seen the movie, so as to know what they're singing about.

Tricky released an awesome album of duets - "Nearly God", which had such people as Martina Topley-Bird, Terry Hall, Neneh Cherry, Alison Moyet, Cath Coffey and Björk. Get hold of a copy. He also did a duet with PJ Harvey on a different album ("Angels with Dirty faces").

I'm not sure if you could call it a duet, but Louie Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald made a sublime album together. Called "Ella & Louis". Fantastic.

David Bowie did a duet with Freddie Mercury - "Under Pressure", which is pretty good.

And then there's William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy's version of "If I had a hammer".
After listening to it, you'll be able to come up with several more uses for their hammer than what they suggest. I know I did.

Coming a close second in worst song stakes would be Willie Nelson and Engelbert Humperdink's "To all the girls I loved before".

how about that country classic JACKSON by johnny cash and june carter.

we got married in a fever
hotter than a pepper sprout
we've been talkin bout jackson
ever since the fire went out

going to jackson......

etc

its got a good beat and you dont have to be a great singer to make it work.

Actually, it was Julio Iglesias, but yes - despite his many excellent duets that was an atrocious one. I still don't know what they were thinking there.

some other notable man/woman duets:

Bryan Adams and Tina Turner on 'Its Only Love' (and others)

Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley on 'The Time of My Life'

Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Jordan on 'Baby It's Cold Outside'

Deborah Harry and Iggy Pop on 'Well Did You Evah'

Jimmy Cliff and Erykah Badu on the tribute version of 'No Woman No Cry'

The Nat King/Natalie Cole duet of 'Unforgettable'

Frank Sinatra has some really outstanding duets as well - too many to list though.

One of my favorite (often my favorite) Christmas Carols. I would like to add to the list I Never Talk To Strangers by Tom Waits? Good Piano duet.
