I want to start the move from Windows to Linux but am at a loss as to which os to use. Redhat Fedora? Mandrake? Please help me with this. If you could recommened any reading material or books to help me get started on learning Linux I would appreciate that also. Also, are there any emulators for pc games for Linux?

Kubuntu is a good start. It's a nice, full-featured OS and the documentation is good.
As for games... some games can run under WINE, but Linux isn't a system for gamers - that's for sure. Some companies now actually release ports to Linux, though, so things are looking up.

I know Linux is good for games thats why I asked if there are any good emulators for windows games. If I have to Ill use 2 different Os's but I really dont want to have to do that.

So get a Linux distribution that runs from a bootable CD. No need to wipe Windows while you explore Linux and see what you like. Lots of distros offer a bootable ISO, including Myrth's recommendation, Kubunto: (http://releases.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/hoary/) <download i386 version (http://releases.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/hoary/kubuntu-5.04-live-i386.iso)>

Slackware also offers one, called Slax. No installation needed, everything spools from the CD. There's a saying: "If you use Redhat, you know Redhat. If you use Mandrake, you know Mandrake. If you use Slackware, you know Linux." Basically Mandrake and Redhat are more customized, whereas Slackware is generic Linux. Better? Maybe, maybe not. Your call really.

ok well as a long time and dedicated Linux user... i have to say this... Mandrake sucks, Redhat sucks and Slackware sucks they are not real user friendly... i'd say go with some type of Debian Based build.. something like Debian itself or Ubuntu.. i've used Ubuntu since about the time it was released and it seems to be the best out of anything that i've found so far... so i say for the sake of humanity use either Debian or Ubuntu and ubuntu offres a Live CD also but what i did was took two different hard drives installed Ubuntu on one and Windows on the other and i can switch between the two fairly easilly... but i also have a full time Linux box and about 5 full time Windows PC's because nothing i've found works too great for Emulating PC Games in Linux... your better off using Linux on one box and Windows on another if you could do that...
