Can anyone else come up with a more pathetic loser?

Teen sends 8,000 texts a month
Robert Vavey might just be the country's most prolific texter.
The 17-year-old Christchurch sales assistant sends a staggering 8000 text messages a month - an average of one every four minutes every waking hour.
Friends tell him he relies on his cellphone too much, but he calls text messaging "the way of the future".
And these days he is positively restrained compared to how prolific he was last year, when Telecom's unlimited $10 text plan saw him fire out more than 15,000 texts a month.
...
For Mr Vavey, who spends around $280 ($200US, £105) a month on his mobile account, the appeal of texting is simple: it's the convenience.
"If you're out and about in town you can just text your mate and meet up with them.
"Text the girlfriend, all that sort of carry on," he says. "It's better than talking on the phone. It's a lot easier."
I mean, really. How sad is that? 8000 txts a month.
What surprises me is that he has friends. And a girlfriend!
And he's a sales assistant. For The Warehouse, no doubt. (The Warehouse is the NZ equivalent of K-Mart).

Anyway, the gauntlet has been thrown. Can you come up with a more pathetic, sadder and no-life person than this?

Maybe he writes a message and spams it to 200 people at a time?

Can we nominate ourselves (not that I would want to, or course ;) )?

That immediately begs the question - Why and how would an 18 yr-old sales assistant have 200 peoples' numbers on his phone?

Only if you can come up with an example sadder than this one! :)

Do you use MSN ? Do you send more than 8'000 messages a month ? If you do you''re doing just the same as this guy, except you're not spending as much money of course.

I don't have a cell phone, but I hear that a text message costs around 5 cents, which would make 8000 cost 400 clams a month. That might be sad, but I knew a guy once who would spend 400 on cocaine a month, give or take. I find that a bit more sad, I think.

Good point, but I don't think it's really the same. MSN is more immediate; like a phone conversation, and although 8000 exchanges on MSN is kind of mad, it would take about 1/4 of the time of texting, leaving you with more of a life. But yeah. I bet that guy is one of those people which really annoy me, who spend all their time when they're out or with someone texting other people. It's so sad, I mean, that's how they live their whole life - through text messages, missing out on experiences. Laaaaaaaaame.

this guy is the utter opposite of pathetic loser

if you were getting constant text messages from a loser what you would do?

block his messages and quit talking to him in any way whatsoever. that he gets people to receive his texts and presumably respond to them, indicates that he is a man who is obsessed with his cell phone but extremely popular with his phone list. not a loser

if your shop clerk employee were constantly on his cell phone texting friends, would you keep him on?

HELL NO! you would fire his ass so quick he wouldnt have enough money to pay his cell bill. that he can work AND text constantly indicates that he is capable of his job and popular with his employer.

he is a very social guy who loves his cell phone. he has plenty of friends who will at least tolerate his constant texting AND paid employment where he has given his boss ample reason to sack him but he is kept on. obsessive, yes; loser, NO.

You know, I have to agree with Ashmoria here. And when you think about it, his friends probably text nearly as much as he does. Frankly I think the whole goddam cell phone craze itself is way too prolific, this is just another hair on the donkey.
