Good things that aren't you: Take Two

I tried this a while ago and it went really well (I mean really well, I think it actually got past two pages before the flaming started!) so I thought it'd be good to go again.

What this thread is for is spreading good will among the seperate peoples of NS. What you do is state your nationality/ethnicity/religion/etc. (Whatever you're talking about in your post) and then say something good about some other nationality/ethnicity/religion/etc. I don't really care who you're talking about or what you're saying, as long as it's positive and not about you.

Begin!

I'll start:

I am Jewish and I like Hinduism's practice of tolerance and the way it manages to incorporate other religions into itself. This allows for a much smoother co-existence with other religions without much of the conflict that has sprung up throughout history (Which usually stems from religions saying you have to be one or the other).

I'm cruel at times and have a sarcastic streak a mile wide, and I admire the people who can stick to nonviolence and goodwil towards others.

I'm female, and have an enormous amount of respect to males in general, and especially the ones who honestly try to be kind and considerate, but are pushed aside for the jerks with better cars.

I am a WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant for those of you not up on the American slang expression) who has a deep respect for Arab culture and the Islamic faith and tradition. I find the ancient culture of Arab civilisation extremely interesting, from the fact that the Qur'an describes with astounding accuracy the gestation of the human embryo to the development of algebra by a man from Baghdad. In fact, I firmly believe that without the Crusades, Arab culture might have flourished further.

There! :)

I'm a white American Athiest who loves my Sri Lankan friend Ravi (I can't spell or pronounce his real name beyond Ravindra) and I really like the Buddhist idea of pushing out distractions in the mind by letting them in, letting them pass, and letting them leave you sense.

Well, I'm a white American Atheist who very much admires the Indian people and their Hindu religion. Every Indian I've met has been very nice and intelligent. I can safely say that I've not talked to a stupid Indian, or a jerk, for that matter. They are very open and tolerant of others, and I like that.

well i'm an athiest and i'd go with that, but tack on Buddhism. those two religions, to the best of my knowledge, teach tolerance, compassion, and peace - qualities which i hold dearly.

i also admire hippies and would love to be one (if only i had the strength of conviction...)

I'm an Indian Muslim and I love the ideals of Buddhism. A monk's life seems so disciplined yet fulfilling.

I'm American, primarily Swedish ancestry, and spiritually oriented but not "religious."

I admire the people of Iraq because most of them seem to be eager to embrace democracy, get the Americans back home where we belong, and get on with their lives. :)

As an Indian, I'd have to say that you were lucky. Like any race, we have plenty of good people; however, we have a lot of anti-Muslim or just anti-Pakistani bigots, because of the divides over Kashmir and the area. Also, stupid Indians do exist, but because of the feirce competition in India resulting from having few very good colleges and a high population, generally only the best face of India makes it to the US.

Ah, sounds about right. But still, what I said still goes for the Indians I've met.

I'm a lunatic, and I enjoy sane people's ability to laugh at the absurd. Sometimes with confusion, bewilderment, disgust and/or shock. But it's still important to have a sane audience to perform for. Other crazy people tend to overanalyze such activities to try to fit it into their own pattern of insanity. I consider that to be very self-centered of them.

I'm an atheist, and I admire Christians' all-encompassing concern for the world's marginalized.

Cause you're psychic?

I'm American and I admire how, even though they were offered peace by Hitler, the British continued to fight instead of submit to Germany after France fell.

(I'm trying to avoid my usual topics of NS discussion and I rarely discuss WWII)

I admire people with discipline, such as those who are seriously into martial arts where the spirit, body, and mind come together and are one.

(Just trying to keep this alive)

I'm a teenager and I admire adults for the fact that they actually work for their money and their well-being is reliant upon themselves rather than their parents.
