I've seent the video (Provided it's what I think it is, I didn't go to the link when it was still there) on a non-ebaums site recently (Campfused.com or something similar). Are links there legal?

yes, I had a similar issue and almost got a warning for it, but then they recinded that warning so yes you can, but make sure it isn't a prohibited site first, and albino black sheep is forbooten.

EDIT:
actually forget I said that , I misinterepereted your question, I'm not sure if that site is legal

"Mario, Tetris, MK, Mario again, then Zelda, right?"

I got Mario and Zelda and Mortal K(C?)ombat, but not really Tetris.
Nintendo invented Tetris?!?!? Either that or Nintendo is famous for tetris, which I have no recollection of.
Very well made...definitely.

You missed Mario the second time and Zelda?!

Also, they didn't invent Tetris, but they had a very good tetris game. I recognized the music, but wasn't sure from where, until I realized what the people on the side where doing :)

I think one of them was from the mini-game you'd get when you started up the old Mario 3, around the middle of the clip.

Edit: The last part of the clip is Stage 2 of Mario 1, World 1, followed by Zelda, the original. Neat clip. :)

Yeah, that's what I said; those came right after Mortal Kombat.

The second actually is Doctor Mario. I wet myself on Zelda. About Tetris, okay.

In 1989, the tiny little Nintendo Game Boy set the world on fire. Considering that even the best gaming platforms had jerky, massively pixelated animation that looked more like lego, the startling dot-matrix resolution of the GB swept all the competition aside and people who made other handheld consoles like Sega found their products set aside. Even the original Nintendo products and all the other ones rapidly went into the closets to collect dust as the GB phenonmenon took hold.

At the beginning, GB was rather limited in the number of game cartridges that were available. However, they really needed only one. Care to take a guess? Yes, it was Tetris. They didn't invent Tetris (the Tetris splash screen on the GB version makes note of this), but the quantum leap in handheld gaming, plus the Tetris game put Nintendo on the market.

It actually wasn't until the 1994/95 release of Super Nintendo that the GB phenomenon started slacking off, with the GB's small screen and lack of color causing the decline. But to answer the question, Tetris made the Game Boy happen and Nintendo a household name.

Now I really feel old. I'm one of the original 1989 GB kids. x.x

Same here. Won it off the cereal box. No joke. Don't think we could've afforded one otherwise, I think they were pretty expensive.

I also got a GB in 1990 or so when it was just released in Germany. I got a SNES when they were brand-spanking new. But I didn't bother getting a N64 - too expensive at the time. We know what it was like being at the forefront of the videogames community :)
