Because they're 13 year old kids and 13 year old kids do stupid things to prove that they're brave and cool. Killing sharks falls into that category.
We should throw them in to the shark pit for a while. That would teach the assholes a lesson.

They picked on the wussiest sharks in the tank. Though I guess had they tried that in Monetery the story would have been "13 year old Kids Bitten in Half by Irratated Great White Shark"
Or if the ray had managed to sting one of them-"13 Year Old Found Paralized with Ray on His Face"
