NationStates Jolt Archive

Every day when I check these forums I get like a hundred "Thread not found" or "Internal Server Error" or Database malfunction errors or whathaveyou. Is Jolt really buggy for everyone else or is it just me? The constant error messages which require refreshing a thread or posting a message 3+ times are mighty annoying! :eek:

I tried to come back on this thread to check out the new comment and. . .got three error messages before it let me on. I am very curious as to what is happening. Are we all posting too much?

(15k actually) and I'm being serious, the forum is like this because there's so many people making so many posts, how is having at least 5 different threads complaining really gonna help? Our forum is a lot for servers to handle and Jolt is doing a much better job than our old server, so stop complaining and wait for the technical staff to sort it out

Dude! Have you actually looked at the first page of general in the last week? There've been 2-4 bitchfest threads holding steady on page one.

Jolt has been having bad problems. Not quite (by a narrow margin) as bad as the old sever. It's getting closer all the time though... (FTA, I've been around longer than you and know what the bad old days were like - we aren't too far away from the dark dirty days...)

I don't know about as bad as the old days.

Out of the last fortnight however, it's been a miracle if I can actually get any of the jolt foums to open up AT ALL, let alone post messages, or see replies.

Well... how would NOT having 5 different threads complaining really help? It wouldn't. Don't tell me the entire jolt server is laggy solely because of threads just like this one or posts like someone else makes. It's because of ALL of them, including yours and all the others that no one is going to stop making just because you tell them to.

I'd say that, at times(not right now though), Jolt does get worse than the old server. Aaaah, the nice old phpBB-like forum, with forum 7 and the cool titles and stuff.
I'd say that the problems with Jolt, plus the fact that we're currently on a highly kluged vBulletin, makes it worse.

I remember around a year or so ago when the servers were slow as hell and it took ages to load pages or was impossible to load pages at all. This is just as bad. I had times now where I had to reload a page 10 times and got all various errors that are possible.

It's worse than the server we had just before Jolt (We've gone through more than "the old server" and "Jolt".)...That almost made the site work like it was perfectly normal...At least whenever I came to the forums. It's still better than in the very beginning of NS, though...Max took the whole site down for a week.

...And the new forums are just as ugly as when we came to Jolt, and we still have the same emoticons, and we still have the Jolt user titles...

Hmmm, is Jolt Buggy? Does a bear shit in the woods?

I get a lot of error messages too all the time, and Jolt can't keep up with me when I'm in a hurry. But I suppose that the old server was just as bad. I often remember nostalgically things that at the time I thought boring or awful. And believe me, it's like New York City's subway system: we all hate it, it's slow, it's dirty, it looks terrible, but hey—you have to admit, we can't live without it. :)

And about the titles—those look a bit crazy, but unless all NS users sign a petition asking Jolt to change them, they won't change.

A) Technical discussions of this sort belong in the Technical forum, not General. You won't see admins commenting on them here. If you want to bitch, bitch in the right place.

B) Threads about not being able to read the forums are particularly useless when nobody can read the forums.

C) the problem has to do with mySQL errors that require a Jolt admin to resolve, and none of us are Jolt admins.

D) Finally, it's pretty obvious to me that [NS]Ein Deutscher' is the one that came out of this exchange looking like an ass. Your patronising comments about FairyTinkArisen's patronising comments are particularly ironic. You're the one that needs to work on your attitude here, fella. Lay off the personal attacks, NOW.
