What Mythology appeals to you? I like Norse myself. According to them the world was created because of a cow.

I gravitate most towards Ancient Egyptian mythology, but Norse, Greek, Roman, Mesopotamian, and Native American mythologies are also very appealing.
Question: Why nessecarily makes these religions mythology and other religions... not?

I prefer Greek mythology the best, only because it's the most familiar to me. After that, I would have to say Norse mythology interests me the greatest.

I chose Roman/Greek, because that's the mythology of my Sicilian and mainland Italian ancestors, but I like Norse too.

Unfortunately, Western exposure to most of the mythologies listed there is very, very minimal. I could probably count on my one hand the amount of times Native American mythology was mentioned in any of my years in high school, and I don't think I was ever really exposed to Chinese or Hindu mythology. It's rather sad, really.

It's not a formal mythology, but through archaeological evidence and extrapolation, traces of a consistent Neolithic Age mythology have been identified in southern Europe, western and central Asia (an area designated "Old Europe"). Reference the very impressive work of Marija Alseikaite Gimbutas (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=books&field-author=Marija%20Alseikaite%20Gimbutas/002-4404492-4930441).
Anyway, that's my "other" favourite.

Norse for me, primarily, but I also like some of the Native American ideas, and the Central/Southern American civilizations (Toltecs, Olmecs, Aztecs, etc. etc.).
Roman and Greek and Egyptian stuff is all nice as well, but they aren't my faves. (Guess who I use in Age of Mythology xD)

Buddhism. siddhartha gautama walked on water and killed muhammad, my ass.
Greek. The gods were humanlike and had wonderfully rich personalities. Plus, Pan is the best god ever. Nothing but wine, women, song, and sex with that guy.
I prefer Norse mythology because it ties to my ancestry and so many English words and things in American culture tie back to it. Tues' - day, Odin's-day, Thor's - day, Frigg's-day, for example.

So you pick the least humanlike to name... ;)

I've always been partial to Egyptian, myself.
Although, mythology in general interests me a lot.

Wow, I just realized that! :D
Satyrs are the best mythological (or are they?) creatures in Greek mythology.

They're all good stuff. I picked one, only because I study it more than the others, not because I like it more.
All of them serve roughly the same purpose, all of them do the job quite well.

native american because it is less to do with worship and gods and more to do with respect to the environment (thats just my interpretation, i know there is still a large amount of prayer and such)

the ragnarok gives Norse the lead for me
I looove mythology more than anything.
It's a close tie (for me) between Egyptian, Greek, and Norse, but inevitably, my upbringing in Greek mythology got the better of me...
Damn. Should've picked Norse... or Egyptian... Norse. Damn.

Wasn't Pan the only god to get killed?
For some reason I remember hearing that he died. (Alright, so I haven't read mythology in a decade or so, math and science have taken top priority, unfortunately).

I admire all mythologies as examples of primitive mans attempt to understand and explain their universe.

I'm somewhat partial to Zoroastrianism. Other than that, Norse and Greek are facinating.

The only time I've ever used the word fascinating in a sentence was trying to describe the Sumerian mythology. Great stuff.

Hey, you forgot Central American (Aztec/Mayan/Olmec) or South American mythology, Olmec! :p
I like Aztec mythology,, Ixtelolotl and Xt'Tapalatakettle, and all those guys. WIld stuff.
I also like post-NT Christian mythology (stories of the Saints, of varying basis in reality, etc.), especially the ones with basis in fact, artifacts, preserved locations, etc.
