In the interest of Peace, Charity and Justice I hereby open this the United Grand Lodge of Nation States.

Those who share our beliefs are more than welcome to join.

Those who disagree, please show respect and leave us to our own devices.

No real ritual will be discussed.

If you are a mason and you are happy for others to know just mention your mother lodge, degree and office if any.

Altona 572, 3rd, JD.

Thankyou...
ohh...c'mon you had to have known it was coming on this board.

I actually have nothing against the Masons. They tried to recruit me once and I politly declined, too many other activities. But they seemed like nice enough folk. A bunch of old guys hosting a spagetthi dinner for the Arizona elementary school short story contest winners.

Sounds nice, but... Did you notice any black people?

Spose I should have seen it comming, I was expecting goat references.

nope.

Could be that the black dudes just didn't want to join. Or, it could be the much more likely thing: They simply weren't allowed.

The American Masonic structure different to that in Australia.

There is a branch of Masonry called Prince Hall which is predominently black.

The lodge I belong to has members of numourous races and I know Masons of differing religious backgrounds.

Ah, thought you were American. Yeah, seems to me that the Australian one would be different.

Where did you get that?

I got my apron new and have since got some other degree aprons from friends and family.

Race should not matter. We all enter and leave the world in the same way. It's only what we do in life which distinguishes us.

Try telling that to the nutjobs who run lodges and clubs over where I live!

Hopefully they will one day look at the oaths they have taken and re-ajust their attitude.

It's possible. I just don't know about that happening anytime soon, though.

Good for you, here we welcome you as a brother already.

I joined because some close friends of mine had joined and I decided to look into it.

Did a bit of reading and spoke with some people and finally decided that it was right for me.

I do warn however that the brotherhood will not give you privilage but will deliver greater responsibility.

I greet you as a brother.

If you wish to join us here you are more than welcome. Thing is this is a bit of fun and not a real lodge but hey!

Have you tried joining Prince Hall Freemasonry?

Nah, I'm not the type to join clubs (fake or real!). Thanks for the welcome anyway, though.

I am a mason (lapsed, due to disagreement with certain members) as are many members of my family (all different lodges).

Without turning this into a "ask a" thread, here are some facts you need to know.

1) it is open to anyone that beilives in a single supreme being (or says they do)
2) There is a separate womens only set
3) part of the oaths are a) not to be a fanatic b) not to assist a crime or criminal c) to be a brother to the other members
4) there are three degrees to being a mason
5) there are further areas open once you complete the three, these include chapter, Knights Templar, Knights Malta
6) The oaths are between you and your god, and no other threats are made, you are expected to honour them.
7) videos and tours are run for Grand Lodge, In London to show anyone that the masons are not sinister or overly secrative.

Even though I left, I believe in the principals of the Masons and may rejoin in a few years (when those that I disagreed with have moved on).
