I love you all. No, really, I do.

Well, it's a rainy day, the kind that always make me want to curl up around a hot cup of coffee, draped in one of my husband's sweaters while I listen to some music and fire of posts on General. Mind you, this is all happening at work, but hey! Enjoy it while I can, I say!

I woke up this morning looking forward to coming onto General today. Now, don't get me wrong...I do have a life outside of General, but my work is so dull, that this really is something to look forward to compared to endless meetings and waiting for phone calls. I I realised that there have been some strange side effects from my time here. One, I see many of you as real people (gasp) that I don't feel comfortable lying to, or insulting randomly (with a purpose, yes, but...). Some of you in particular have become VERY real to me, and this might be a common occurrence with you young folk out there, but Internet is still a relatively new thing for this old hick and I'm not used to friends I've never met:).

The diversity of opinions on General keeps me here, but it's been very interesting to go beyond political stances to the more complex belief systems of some of you. For example...on first interacting with Whispering Legs, I formed a political and personal opinion of him based solely on his approach to certain issues. I've since done a complete 180, and all of a sudden, he's reminded me that we are more than the sum of our opinions.

Anyway, I really do love all of you, you keep me entertained, you challenge me, and you blow my assumptions away and remind me that people are wonderful/terrible/simple/complex/loving/bigoted/selfish/selfless...regardless of whether you meet them in the street, or in an online forum.

Let's keep the fluffling to a minimum though, shall we?

Allo Sinuhue! Work... eh? This is bad news indeed. Ah well. At least you seem to get paid for coming to general for extended periods. Just don't remind me that you have meetings and stuff. (and my parents wonder why I grew up without a work ethic. The formulative years of my life were spent with them telling me how great school was compared to work and how much hell work was... I dunno why I avoid it like some kind of plague. But never mind...

Good to see you're in a good mood today?, hrm?

awwwwww, what a lovely thread Sinuhue! I love you too! It's not often that I come across someone who can actually make a difference to my opinions and change them (ever so slightly), and I wanna say thank you for that, i don't think I'll ever agree completely with feminism, even nice, mild feminism, but you've brought me damn close and now at least i can accept that not all feminists are men-hating, hairy lesbians

and i know you said to keep the fluffling to a minimum but surely a cople from the fluffle queen is ok......... :fluffle: :fluffle:

You bring the fantastic mental image that comes along with your user name...would a monkey pimp BE a monkey, or a human PIMPING monkeys? And would this pimp be a la Snoop Doggy Dog (bad teeth and all) or more like a chicano pimp? Just look at that! I've spent at least three minutes just thinking about you!

It started out as a blend of a few other names bought together into something I though would work as an online name when I was about 15. Origionally I think it was supposed to be a monkey who pimped fine ladies, but its really up in the air now. It can be what you like :)

i've said it before and i'll say it again: i love you all too :)
many of you here are as 'real' to me as any of my RL mates, and most of you are a fair bit nicer, too :)

so a big :fluffle: to Sinuhue, and an even bigger :fluffle: to all of General!
i don't know what i'd do without you all to keep me smiling, keep me coming back, keep supporting me - and i hope i do what i can to help out others, too - and all that guff (*getting mushy*). without the support of you all i could be in a far worse place right now. thanks to everyone :fluffle: :fluffle:

edit: just worked out how to summarise my ramblings - the General regulars are about as close as i have to family out here :)

Well, Sinuhue, I know I don't know you that well, but I've always found your threads and posts to be very interesting and intelligent. I really enjoy reading them, so have a (minimal) fluffle: :fluffle:

My opinions on certain issues may differ from those of many people on this forum, but that's at least part of what makes me love it - so many different people, with so many different viewpoints. I do have a bit of a life elsewhere, but I still love this place and those who post in it! So, another (minimal) fluffle to all: :fluffle:
