MSN Messenger
Hey, anyone wanna help me out? I have two problems..
1.) When I try to start a conversation with someone or they try to message me, I get this - "We were unable to start a conversation with >insert name here<. You may want to try again.
and then I get this when I try to reinstall..
2.) MSN Messenger setup has failed with error code: '1601'. Please go to the MSN Messenger Web site and download the software from there.
I just downloaded the software from MSN! I dunno what to do, restarting is out of the question (its not a problem restarting could possibly fix, and it takes literally 15-20 minutes to restart).. I'm just so confused.

you have a hardware problem if its taking you that long to restart... you should probably do a google search for Memtest download it install it and run it because im thinking you have a bad RAM chip... how many Megs of ram does you system have?

It almost sounds like there's too much on the computer if it takes 15-20 minutes to restart it. The more working applications you have, the longer it takes for the computer to go through them to start up.
Perhaps you need to defragment your hard drive or remove some unused programs from your computer. That might at least cut down the restart time.

i still say check your RAM chips because i had a computer that was taking upwards of 30 minutes to load Linux even and it was only because the Ram chip i had was shot... it would work to the point where it would let the computer boot but it was so ungodly slow it wasnt even funny... so trust me check your ram chips

I'm actually encountering similar problems, a lot of people are.
I am also suffering from problems with IE today, excessive freezing that started today.
It's strange.
I been runing MSM Beta for over a month now and it seems fine.
Sounds like your computer needs a good format. Burn your important files and the contents of your ./system32/DRIVERS folder to CD and treat it to a nice fdisking.

I'm running MSN Messenger 6.2 at the moment, so I don't know about 7.0.
15-20 minutes to reboot? You've got serious hardware issues with your PC.

I had a few teething problems with MSN 7 to begin with, kept crashing when loading smilies and a few other problems, but after a couple of resets it was fine.
Oh and Firefox rules...but my work won't let me have it :(
linux works fine. i need to format but I can't burn disks because it wont let me, and I dont have a copy of XP laying around
