Always a good course of action.

I'm vegetarian, so uh I don't eat livestock anyway :p and I don't drink milk, so no go there either.

But you eat lots of things that are already genetically engineered (have just been bored doing this in a biology lesson) so the rest I would.

I would wait a few years see if anything happens to the ones that are eating it. If nothing bad happened to them then I would.

What if they had cloned plants? ;)

I don't see what's wrong with cloning livestock. It's not like you're changing their genes, only taking the genes of animals we use now and copying them. Breeders have sought to standardize the traits of livestock for centuries. This is just a more efficient way of doing it.

sure id eat cloned livestock
but i dont think its good for biodiversity to have ranchers use only bioengineered cattle.

if it was shown to be no different from eating 'normal' animals (and i dont see why it should be different) then i wouldnt have a problem with it

Is this a health/safety or moral question?

As far as health/safety goes, I'd be fine with eating cloned animals (assuming the cloning had been done properly, so they are completely indistinguishable from non-cloned animals).

Morally? I'm not so sure yet. I'd have to listen to opinions on both sides before making a decision to eat (or protest the eating) of cloned animals.

I'm a vegetarian too, but not a vegan. :)
However, I don't see how eating a cloned animal is any worse than eating a non-cloned animal that was bred for consumption.

It seems unnatural to me right now so no.

However, maybe in the future I might reconsider if it becomes a more regular thing.

Hey, Steak is Steak. In fact the way I look at it if the steak was perfectly the same every time because of the cloning that's a good thing.

Cloning leaves less room for the lambs to evolve to taste better (Like how come you eat nonMilk cows). Also it would be suseptable to the same diseases and it would be annoying. NOw genetic engineering then ja but otherwise why should i, it seems stupid and pointless.

I hope Dolly has died. She annoyed me with her lil sheepish ways.

I think I missed the question. Well it depends, if the original animal was a good meal and cloning done properly when the original was young(it would be genetically the same age which is probably the set back of cloning right now) then sure why not.

No, because no one knows if there are any side effects yet.

Its just a kinda duplicate animal, what the heck problems with the meat could their be? I wouldn't worry about it, not one smidgin of a little bit. Cloned, uncloned, genetically altered or genetically original, samey samey to me.

What if they had cloned plants? ;)

Probablly, as long as it didn't affect (is that the right one?) my health and tasted the same, I wouldn't mind. But I think it is more put to use in 3rd world countries where they can't grow crops easily vs. here where it rains far too often

I would, so long as there are no harmful irregularities.

Marijuana production would go up.

I am a vegetarian but if I did consume meat I would object to eating cloned animals as I don't trust anything the big companies or their scientists are doing, especially after the occurence of BSE in the UK, and due to the fact that there have been no detailed studies into any possible effects on humans. I have the same reservations about genetically modified crops.

Let's say, if it tasted good and was healthy for us, I'd eat it. If it was otherwise, I wouldn't. I don't care whether it's an original cow or the clone of a clone of an android modeled after a cow-shaped bar of soap in a dairy farm (or whatever).

Although, just to say my family doesn't eat beef. I stopped buying it when the Mad Cow scare began and haven't started again. But take cloned fish, cloned chicken—whatever, I don't see the dangers of those.

I'm trying to eat one of everything. So, yes.
