What Do You Think Of (BPL) Broadband Over Power Lines

I just learned about this technology and am kinda excited about it. Not being a ham radio operator I could care less about the interference it causes, although maybe I am being short-sighted about it.

Apparently Vegas is going to be one of the first markets it is implemented in. I wonder if it's gunna be cheap. Yay Vegas.

If God had wanted us to have broadband internet over power lines computers would be born with the appropriate modems. It's an abomination in the eyes of the LORD.

I will have more time after my cryptography test in 12 minuets to reply but there are some MAJOR security issues with bandwidth overpower lines namely being in a sometimes large collision domain

(which both decreases stated performance) and also allows wide range line packet sniffing because the information is transmitted to all nodes

(sorry that’s all I can get into right now) Time to go figure out how to do an inverse matrix in modulus situation

Don't forget all the EM leakage--TEMPEST, anyone? You know how much extra foil that would take??? :D

Thats a start ... with the large size of the proposed token ring style quing could cause wait time issues.

We have done an in depth study of it for a class last simester both the WAN and LAN implementations of it
There were some major issues but I dont have my class notes with me
