I just checked out the trailers and other info on Empire Earth II, and the game looks like a really great strategy game to me. It's due for release on April 26, and I'd love to hear what some of you think.

Earth 2160 is all you need to hear.

I liked E-Earth 1... but the...whajimacallit... interface let it down severely, in my opinion. And I found out (on this very forum!) that this isn't being developed by the same people that made E-Earth 1....

I'm not sure if I'm really looking forward to it. I'll have to wait til I inevitably buy it before I can make a judgement, damnit.

But, like I said, Earth 2160.

Great graphics, but it doesn't say much about gameplay. Any thoughts on that??

Definately looking forward to this one. <3 the original EE, played it to death, still do play it fairly regularly.

Having played a single-player demo, I can say that EE2 looks to be a very impressive game, with a lot of unique ideas (Territory, for one.). The various tactical screens are quite handy, too. Can't wait for release =D

Territory isnt a unique idea, Rise of Nations did that. A lot of the stuff in that game come from Rise of Nations.

I have played the demo (which I hated.) All it is is a Rise of Nations clone. I loved EE-1 and Rise of Nations but this game really let me down.

Don't get your hopes up. This Empire Earth's been developed by Mad Doc software, the very same team that made the atrocious Empire Earth expansion pack.

Just wait for the next Stainless Steel Sudios release. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/risefallcivilizationsatwar/index.html?q=civilizations

Check it out.

Wasn't it Z, or the sequel Z: Steel soldiers, that really invented territory holdings, and in my mind done it best. In fact, for a purely enjoyable game, I'd say that if you can pick up a budget copy of steel soldiers, you could do FAR worse. It's dated a little, but it does old school better than everything else.

Eut'.... you mentioned asking whether I have any thoughts on gameplay... for Earth 2160 or for EE2? I'll answer both to the best of my ability. That is to say, nothing on EE2, and a bit on Earth 2160.

Earth 2160, if it plays anything like Earth 2150, will be a fairly traditional RTS game, that is base building, etc, but with a modular unit construction system. That is, you choose the chassis, and what guns get put on it, depending on whether you want a quality > quantity or vice versa army. 3 VEEERY different armies and building styles, and a good armour system. A funky day/night cycle which allows (actually, really allows) sneak attacks as well as an underground system which may be phased out or kept in. (good for transporting out of reach of badguys, ie for long range harvesting. I haven't played E2150 for a while, because I lost it, but it was definitely one of my favourite strategy games.
