A well regulated Swimming Team, being necessary to the success of the US Olympic Team, the right of the people to keep and bear Swimming Pools, shall not be infringed.

Pools don't kill children, asphyxiation due to full submersion in water kills children. What are you going to do next, drain the oceans?

A well regulated swimming team is not just any idiot with a water filled hole in his yard. Note the "well regulated" part. The government can start a swim team. There's no reason for civilians to own "assault pools".

What are you going to do next, drain the oceans?All well and good, but when this was written it was the local swim teams that we counted on for our defense, and what is a swim team without a pool? A bunch of dry people.

But today the United States Naval Reserve fills the function of a Swimming Team for the nation, and they have government issue olympic size pools provided by taxpayer dollars.

There is no need for local swim teams to own dangerous olympic pools any longer - if they get called up, they will share the existing pools.

Of course, one should not be entirely without pools - there's nothing wrong with those little plastic turtles, as long as they are only used with adult supervision.
