Your favourite childhood Game character:- Sonic or Mario?

You may post if you think you need to.

Sonic does it for me. I've always liked sonic. His games we really fun (exept the recent ones... too easy, and the endings are all the same. Chasing through space?) and challenging.

Mario... Never really clicked with him.

whose gonna win?

Ah the days of the Art section in Sega Power magazine and endless pictures of sonic adminsitering the "pyshco chain saw headcut" to mario (refference to the cyber razor cut from the old ,megadrive ads)

I grew up with Sonic and Mario, my friend owned the Super Nintendo and had the Sega Genesis. Though I got a lot of enjoyment out of Sega, the Nintendo was always a bit more exciting, as it always had new games, and features.

Lets face it, while everyone else is all about quantity, Nintendo is still all about quality.

I was never a fan of sonic, so he could run really fast.
So what?
Marios a plumber, the possibilities are endless.......

Though I like the original Sonic a great deal more than the whole Super Mario series (I'm assuming that's what you meant--not going all the way back to Donkey Kong), Sonic wasn't out when I was a kid. :(

So, Mario was the default.

I still say that the original Mario Bros. was the most addictive game I ever ran across. I blew a TON of money in the arcade with that game.

Dude Nintendo was about quantity AND quality, my fave Mario game is still the one for the game boy, I cant remember its name but is starts in a pyramid level.

Mario was first, I basically grew up with the first handheld games, where you had one little LCD screen, no options to save the game, no colours...

Just kidding....

I had both Mario and Sonic, and there was just something about Mario that was really addicting. Sonic had that kind of bad boy attitude about him with the rock music, and all he really did was just curl up into a ball and roll around like a sissy. It was a little hypocritical, non?

Now Mario...he's the dude. I mean, you had to kill the little dirty mushrooms by actually jumping on them (not curling up and tumbling it over), there was a princess to be saved (which gave you an actual goal), and you had to actually go and look for some of the secret places where gold coins were hidden (in Sonic, they're right infront of you, and you just get them as you come rolling along). It was easy to learn the controls too.

Everything in the Sonic games was just obvious, in Mario, you had to look for it. Mario wins, hands down.

Sonic hands down!
I don't like moustached Italian men in red jumpsuits bludgeoning turtles to death.
Plus Sonic always seemed more badass to me, Mario seemed a little chicken shit to me. But thats just my opinion, Mario can be very entertaining.

Mario had style, Sonic was just hyper. That makes all the difference.

What style? Mario had a moustache was fairly chubbys and wore his dungerees all the time. The sonic games were also much faster paced while Marion was slow and repetitive

My favourite childhood Game character was the top hat from the Monopoly board we kept at the summer cottage.

Other than that? The right-side player from Pong.
