When i was waiting at the bus stop yesterday this little old woman walked up. I couldn't figure out what was so strange about her for a minute, but then it hit me. The smell of spraypaint, the gold film on her face and the little plastic bag she took a breath from every few minutes. when the bus came i leapt on it, but she got on the same bus. She sat a few chairs back from me and every time i heard her take a huff from that back the lump in my throat got tighter. The worst thing was how guilty i felt when i was relieved that she got kicked off the bus.

Sorry for the bring down, but i had to say it or it would have driven me mad.

she probably wasn't even that old, just aged and destroyed from living on the street trying to escape reality.

Yeah, those types aren't rational though oftentimes.. so I wouldn't feel guilty being uncomfortable around them. Old women probably aren't going to snap and stab you, but I've seen doped-up homeless guys do it. There's no shame in beating a drunk to a pulp when you're sober if he gives you cause. In fact, it's quite enjoyable sometimes.

some people even changed seats to bee further away from her. I even saw one person go downstairs. we were only 2 stops into the journey. if they were going there they would have just walked.

tip to the wise:

if you are ever up for jury duty

to to court with an empty glue bottle

and sniff at it

they'll send you home quick

That *is* horrible...I've done research on huffing and the like. I can't imagine what it was like to see something like that, knowing that the person is slowly destroying their life.

I'm not talking about stomping passed-out winos, I mean guys who, thinking you're as drunk as they are, start making threats, pull knives, etc. These kind of guys I don't mind having some fun with. But I don't mean to justify drunk-stomping. That's cruel, I agree.
