i ask because pretty much exactly as you posted that he was shooting the crap out of a watermelon with a WW2 japanese machine gun. i really couldn't put my finger on why that's so amusing. but it is.

There's something about exploding watermelons that is amusing. Same with exploding pumpkins, but I digress. I love the show it's very informative.
R. Lee Ermey was at a car show at Notre Dame, IN. a couple of weekends ago, I was able to get his autograph on the front and back of the cover of my VHS tape of "Full Metal Jacket" Sempre Fi! OooAhh! :sniper:

I know he was in a Zemeckis film (Frighteners) but wasn't he also in an X-Files (the one with the stigmatist)?
Some filthy rumour about him being in drag on film too ... rumour and i thought i saw it myself but i don't remember where.
Seriously, though, it's my favourite History Channel show.
I fucking LOVE this show! I liked when he armed himself with a Sabre and sliced "a bunch of cowering melons".
Classic.

AWESOME show, R. Lee Ermey is teh coolest. He was in the piece of crap movie "Man of the House" as a Texas Ranger officer, which raised my rating of the movie from thumbs down to thumbs at an 89 degree angle to the ground.

He took a Katana (Samurai Sword to you uninformed lot) to a watermelon and sliced it in half. He also shot a bunch of melons with an M1 Garand.
Oh yeah, that's when he said "There's a bunch of cowering melons!"! He proceeded to shoot the hell out of them.
Still, he did the Sabre thing. I just got the lines mixed up.
The best melon demo has to be the claymore mines... though certainly the ninja stars didn't suck.
