Don Vito Corleone: "Someday - and that day may never come - I'll call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day, accept this justice as gift on my daughter's wedding day. "

Michael Corleone: "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse."

Michael Corleone: "Fredo, you're my older brother and I love you, but don't ever take sides with anyone against the family again. Ever."

Tovar: "She tried to run, but it could hop!" (Okay, no connection to The Godfather, but it's just so funny. Tovar rocks!)

Sollozzo, The Turk: "I don't like violence, Tom. I'm a businessman; blood is a big expense."

Don Vito Corleone: "I'm a superstitious man, and if some unlucky accident should befall Michael - if he is to be shot in the head by a police officer, or be found hung dead in a jail cell... or if he should be struck by a bolt of lightning - then I'm going to blame some of the people in this room; and then I do not forgive. But with said, I pledge - on the souls of my grandchildren - that I will not be the one to break the peace that we have made today."

Clemenza: "Leave the gun. Take the cannolis."

Michael Corleone: "My father is no different than any powerful man, any man with power, like a president or senator."
Kay Adams: "Do you know how naive you sound, Michael? Presidents and senators don't have men killed."
Michael Corleone: "Oh. Who's being naive, Kay?"

Clemenza: "It's a Sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes."

The Godfather is a cinematic masterpiece. The very epitome of fine scripting, acting, directing, and shooting. A truly fantabulous movie, it has given rise to more catch-phrases than Monty Python. It showcases the violence and the love, the good and the bad, the fall of Michael Corleone or, as he would say, his rise.

Plus a lot of people get shot.

La cosa nostra - our thing? The thing of ours? Sorry, I m trying to apply Spanish and seeing if the cognatives hold true.

It's Italian. Literally: Our Thing. More loosely: This thing of ours. It's what Mafia members use to refer to the Mafia and other members.
