We've all been able to piece some things together about certain posters we interact with, but we may have a few more questions, or may want to confirm something about them. This is no guarantee anything you ask a poster is going to be answered, but I thought we could put it out there anyway.

For example:

Whispering Legs...you are half-Korean, half white? Have been married twice and divorced, are married again, and work as a lawyer? You have grown up kids (not sure how many), and you live in the US? You are moderately right wing, but you support more open immigration. Is this right?

Again, no one has to give any personal information away that they don't want to!

Yes. Was also in the military until 1991. Probably a more traditional conservative (not a neo-con). A believer in more personal freedom, smaller government, etc.

Pro-choice, against the war on drugs, pro-gun, anti-racism, pro-immigration, well, hope that provides a picture...

2) Why do you insist on saying you have no feelings when we all know you are really a loveable teddy bear?

I've been trying for 20 mins. to ask you a question, but as noted "painfully slow". I've been timed out 5 or 6 times.

Anyway, what was your upbringing like? Parents, sibs, education/grades, peers/social life, moral training...

Sinuhue (Pronounced (SIN-oo-way) is the name of an Egyptian in the 12th dynasty...the story about him is considered the oldest short story in history. It inspired a song by my favourite singer (from Cuba), Silvio Rodriguez. I like the name so much, I plan to name any future daughters Sinuhue.

Ok. My dad is Irish-Canadian, second generation. My mom is Cree. I'm Plains Cree, and I belong to Paul Band Cree Nation in Alberta. We lived off reservation so my four brothers and I could attend the 'white' school, which at the time was considered to be far superior to the rez school. There were quite a few other native kids in the school with us, so we didn't feel too left out, but I always had problems with being fully accepted either by the white kids or the natives (we didn't really have any other races there). I was an honours student all the way through school, but I developed a bad attitude, got into lots of fights, started drinking heavily and doing lots of drugs in Grade 9, started being a real risk taker and doing petty crime. Somehow I kept my grades up, but school came pretty easily to me.

My dad is an alcoholic, but a tame one. He drinks all day (still), and never seems drunk. Works hard, but has a nasty temper he lets out by stomping around and grumbling to himself. Never hit us kids, (though my mom took the wooden spoon to us a lot), and never hurt my mom, but an alcoholic is an alcoholic. My sibs and I were raised atheist, with a lot of native spirituality mixed in (confusing, yes?). She spoke Cree to us whenever possible, so although I've lost some through disuse, I'm still pretty fluent. I used to fancy dance (a particular form of pow-wow dancing) at competitions. My mom raised us the Cree way...she let us make mistakes, and then helped us understand what went wrong so we could avoid it the next time. There were no real rules...just moral guidelines, and I've found that my brothers and I tend to be very concerned with the morality of our actions now because of it. We understand WHY we're supposed to do or not do certain things...not just that we HAVE to because so and so said.

I have a BEd, and teach Spanish. I'm 26. No wait, I keep forgetting it's a new year...I'm 27:)

Drunk commies: are you in love with anyone right now or dating? Do you ever visit any of your family in Italy?

Not in love, although I have been. Not seeing anyone seriously right now. I date occasionally, but looking for love isn't a major priority with me at the moment.

I only have a couple of cousins left in Italy. The rest of the family has scattered to France, Germany, Switzerland, Cyprus, and the USA. I haven't visited Italy in about 11 years. Mostly we keep in touch by the occasional letter or phone call. I'm closer to my mother's side of the family, all of whom have moved to the USA, most in NJ, some in Utah.

occidio multus is cheap latin, translated to "in addition to slaughter" i chose it because i guess it sounded pretty cool, and kind of evil sounding. and now my friends see me on here, and call occidio in RL some times. thats weird.
teddy bear? are you caling me fat??????
nah. kidding. i dont have a lot of emotions, but i do love things, and some people, and lots of stuff about life. i get wicked excited about some things, and tend to, well, gush and crap. i can , and do, get emotional about certain things. like yesterday. i felt bad about what i said about Internet Tough Guy, because i really do like him. what i say on here, is always what is in my head, or would come out my mouth. however, one of my best friends in RL is on NS, and says that parts of my personality dont translate well into type. i think being as sarcastic as all get out does me in. in person, i am generally in a great mood, and laugh ALL THE TIME.

Son 7 is my third wife's child from a previous marriage.

DC: what do you do for a living? Or are you studying right now?
I dropped out of college after three semesters. I was a chemistry major, and dropped out due to my involvement in certain illegal chemicals. I currently work for a small telecom company which I hope will grow in time. If it does I will be positioned for a nice rank in the corporate hierarchy and a good salary. Before that my dream was to open a martial arts school, and I had made decent progress towards that goal (I was close to an apprentice instructor in Lee Jun Fan gung fu), but my training was interrupted by a brief incarceration and a period of depression and desparation. I'm feeling much better now.

Victor-10 months, Reagan 6 years old. Married for the 2nd time around.....lost the first one to a bag of weed.

I'm a Safety Compliance Admin for a large General Contractor. I am currently onsite of a big project and manage all of the Safety aspects. So, I conduct safety meetings, do drug tests (I have a mini lab set up here on site), ensure that our company, as well as our subcontractors are meeting OSHA regulations in regards to all of their policies and procedures. I'm the one who makes sure that no one gets killed out here........in theory. And if they do, I better have the proper documentation showing where we took every precautionary action possible.

i generally , as a rule, would be arrested , if i took home any pictures from work. besides, i find it kind of disrespectful. we never have really been allowed to photograph, anyone, unless there is a really bad case (body) that needs a lot of reconstructuon. then we snap polaroids, and reference them.the mortuary mangager is to be notified, and present during the taking of photos, and then subsequentally destroys them when we are done. surveillance sysytems are common in the Los Angeles area, due mostly to the theft of body parts, and mortuary workers putting up and selling pictures on certain web sites ( tg me if you want some addresses of sites). i used to think it would be a good idea, then you start meeting decedents families, and hearing their stories, and suddenly, it makes you think twice.

i never made a decision. i knew at about 7 what i wanted to do,and still have no idea what made me want to do it. its a great job for women, though, and its never too late to get started.

Whispering Legs: Why are you called Whispering Legs?
When I was in the Army, I was an infantryman, and walked quite a bit with heavy packs. My legs used to say, with each step, "fuck you, fuck you".

Now, I still pack about 5 miles a day (for exercise) with 80 pounds of sand, and due to hearing loss, I can't hear my legs so well anymore. It sounds like a whisper to me. Either that, or the legs are used to it now.

No, I don't do it to be healthy. I find painful physical activity to be satisfying.

it actually just came out of my 7 yearolkd head, one day at dinner at my aunts house. she asked me what a smart girl like me wanted to do when i grew up. i said " i want to be a mortician" yeah. nice dinner, there. any how, my parents , at my BEGGING, got me some books about funerals,a nd the more i read, and learned about funeral; customs, the more i knew i wanted to do the actual "washing of the dead"- ie.,embalming. i am now working trade cases, which means about 70% of the cases are reconstructions- gunshots, chemotherapy (thats a big one)car accidents, etc. these are difficult, and must be done well, often in short amounts of time. i work throught the night often, certain cultures have to have wakes within threedays of a death. i like the fact that i am helping with an important part of the grieving process. often people see their loved one, and then they go to work, get mangled in a car wreck, and the next time they see them, it is in the morgue. so, to restore them to a natural state is important. also, its challenging, and i am damn good at what i do.

Has it affected your outlook on life and dying at all? i think it has made me a lot more appreciative of the fraility of life, especially when i get a 16 year old kid who died in his sleep of a brain anuerysm, or a 32 y.o. mother who got in a car wreck on her way home from the mall, or a college kid who gets cancer.thats why i am always telling people to ",shut the fuck up, quit whining, live your life"etc, etc, because i see how easy it is to die.

Lasc- have you ever been injured back in the Rodeo days?
No, not really - I wasn't in rodeo for very long. I didn't really care for the 'sport' or many of the people in it. I did attempt riding a steer, but only once - and got a little hurt. But I've been hurt much worse snowboarding and wakeboarding than in any other sport. Snowboarding this last year alone I dislocated my left ankle, blew my right knee twice and my left knee once, gave myself a minor concussion and one hell of a cut up mouth and nose.

of course, but hurry it up, i don't know how much longer PC is gonna be around
Really?!?! Thats not good news. Ive put a lot into that RP, even if no one knows it but you, Gael, WO and myself (at least I don't think anyone else is left). Its so spotty - but I find it soo hard to come back now that the club has gone from 50/50 reality/mystic to almost 100% mysticism. Ok, Ill start on some posts tonight.

A question for Cogitation:

I picture you as a bit older than I, with blonde hair, neat, religious but not zealously so, but I can not for the life of me imagine what you do for a living!

I've thought about it for a moment, but I'm still drawing a blank.

Given the choice, would you move to Israel? If so, anywhere specific?

And no, I doubt I would move to Israel.

I do like it there, and I have many dear friends and family that live across Israel, but I doubt I could live there. If I did have to move, I would go to Tel-Aviv, a most lovely city.

Contracts by day (on staff at a government contractor), and where I can, criminal law in the General District Court.

Seriously, my parents are feminists. My mother was always active in NOW and in rape crisis/domestic violence prevention.

One of my main role models as a kid was a lesbian lawyer I greatly admired.

So, I have been active in feminist causes since I was young and have continued to "fight the good fight" my entire life.

I've just never understood not seeing women as equals and treating them as such. And the more I've studied the question the more emphatic my view.

I've also witnessed a great deal of the consequences of inequality and discrimination.

hhhmmm. good question. even when i am arguing with someone on the forum quite vicously, i am not mad. i am just laughing at them. especially the elitist types.
i try to keep a lid on anger, and exercise self control. here is a list of things that actually get me mad.
1.someone messes with my family, that really only happened once- my sisters husband
2. people that hurt kids, or kill them. sex offenders. when that guy in florida said he buried that girl alive, i actually broke a window in my house.
3.i argue , lately, with my best friend steve a lot. he flips the proverbial switch often. we are mentally moving in opposite directions, and are struggling to maintain a 24 year friendship. i get truly mad about it because i care.
4.when people are insensitive, or lack training at work. thats the biggest one.

there are more, but those are the big ones.

At the moment, I'm gonna do my A-levels then head out to university to do a 4 year Bachelors degree in biochemistry. Hopefully I'll have the ability to carry it through to a Masters or even PhD. Then, I'll probably go work in some really spartan lab for a secret government organisation which does not allow me to go outside for fear of giving away secrets. That, or I'll work in a normal lab with people who aren't being controlled :)

And the more I've studied the question the more emphatic my view.

After meeting my current wife, I had eye opening experiences with domestic violence, and have been involved ever since.

But I gave up on the traditional - get her to a shelter, get a protective order route.

It's too clear to me that the law is completely inadequate to protect victims of domestic violence. And it's too clear that too many men are just not going to listen to any reasonable response.

Depends. On a good day, it's usually 'the Beast' (not my choice, it was ironic for that monster of a 899cc under the hood). On a bad day, it's often something like 'Oh you heaving hunk of rusing iron shite, why don't you just blow up and do something useful for once!'.

I've just never understood not seeing women as equals and treating them as such. And the more I've studied the question the more emphatic my view.

I've also witnessed a great deal of the consequences of inequality and discrimination.

Depends. On a good day, it's usually 'the Beast' (not my choice, it was ironic for that monster of a 899cc under the hood). On a bad day, it's often something like 'Oh you heaving hunk of rusing iron shite, why don't you just blow up and do something useful for once!'.

On another topic, when it does wear out, I'm going to go all Street Fighter on it with a golf club, then drive it into a wall at 30mph. Possibly bailing on that last part....

Was that experience through her ex? I'm intrigued now...
Her ex was the first experience. We shelter women (one at a time) in our home because the local women's shelter is time-limited. They also have problems in dealing with men who are more violent.

Right now we're dealing with a different situation. A single mother whose teenage daughter was raped at school. They are staying at our house pending the outcome of the criminal trial. The rapist has friends, and their apartment was attacked in the night making it unsafe to stay there.

I can't hide everyone, but everyone that I hide has a chance.

I have greatly admired your views and the work you have described in these areas.

I fully admit that I find domestic violence and rape situations compelling arguments for personal gun possession. I have known many women who took up guns in these situations and I cannot criticize their choice. To the contrary -- so long as they get instruction in how to handle their firearm safely -- I have supported these decisions.

I tried that once when it wouldn't start. Quite recently, actually. Magiacally, it did start. Of course, five miles down the road, the tyre persished and I had a blowout at 45mph. That is the only time I've ever drop kicked a car door.

Whispering Legs, thats incredible - I had no idea! That is truly an amazing contribution on your part, and I am very proud of you for doing so! Incredible! :)

Go down to the magistrate's office at your local district court.
Check out the women who are there trying to get protective orders - there will be some.
Some of them are there with a lawyer - most can't afford one. Even with a lawyer, the court will only grant a protective order in most jurisdictions if you can prove a pattern and practice of behavior by a person that represents a lethal threat and/or a threat of severe bodily harm - and if that person is not a relative, the burden of proof is arbitrarily higher.

You get, if you're lucky, a 72 hour temporary order that is in force until the real hearing - at which the victim's abuser MUST be present. You may now surmise that he's not too happy about being summoned to court, nor thrilled with the subject matter.

If the order is granted, most of these men know where the bright line is - and it isn't where you think it is.

If you have a protective order, this only means that the other person must stay away from you. Technically, if he violates the order, he should be arrested. But in most jurisdictions, the police will only arrest him if he is still there when they arrive.

Most of these guys know to beat and run. Beat the woman - she calls 911 - he leaves - the police arrive - there are no witnesses - and the best part -

Life is not like CSI. The police will not push it.

If you have money, and the time, you may try to photograph him violating the order, or videotaping. But if he sees you doing this, he usually escalates in an attempt to gain control of the camera.

If you have witnesses, he will attempt to intimidate.

It's not the end of things when a woman actually leaves her abuser and gets into a shelter and gets a protective order. It's the beginning of what may be years of terror.

for my human enemies, i find that a citrus-type glaze bake or light lemon grill will cut the heavy, rich flavor of the meat, and a dry white wine will also help avoid the greasy elements that some chefs have complained of.

demon enemies are, naturally, prepared a flambe, though i have experimented with a form of hellion tartar embellished with cillantro. i'm also going to try a kind of burried clay-bake similar to techniques from Hawaii, leaving the scales and hair on while cooking the whole carcass. that takes a bigger kitchen than mine, though.

i usually prepare kitten flesh in nugget form, for obvious reasons. larger puppies can be handled in essentially the same manner as a veal cutlet, while smaller breeds (your toy poodles or terriers) tend to be best when dusted with a seasoned breading and lightly fried in oil.

I'm not sure when the cast will come off. The last time I visited the hospital a couple of weeks ago, they said it would have to stay on for another six to eight weeks. I'm just hoping it heals well and I don't have to have a pin inserted ( especially since I already have about 2 lbs of metal in that same leg from my military parachuting accident ). Groan! Heh!

Got involved with helping the woman who was to become my third wife. Then, because I was always in and out of the same places that she and other women go to get help (the courts, the shelters) I ended up meeting some of the people that work with it every day.

depends on your goal. if you simply wish to irradicate those demons who annoy you, the flamethrower never goes out of style. if your goal is a torturous decline into madness for your more subtle form of demon enemy, then gradual poisoning with LSD or similar halucinogens is effective...a crazy demon is quite a sight, i must say. or, if you want to wipe out all life within a 10 block radius of your target's stronghold/nest, nothing beats playing The John Tesh Project: Sax By The Fire.

I think I might go with the flamethrower, then. I was looking for a name for my new nation - I thought Moon Worship might be good but a bit boring and not mysterious enough so I translated it to tagalog on an online translator (since my fiance is filipino) and there you have it. At least I think thats what it means. It's been a while.

if you want to really see something amazing, visit the Korean War Memorial on a rainy night...the figures look like they are alive and moving.

Interest for our history and respect of our men will draw you there, but there is a real mixture of awe and despair-thats the best way I can put it.

Too true. I've had the same emotion at Arlington Cemetary in Va and Pearl Harbor was tough too. Many of the men who died were left interred in the Arizona and when you're there and aware of that, its a very humbling experience. I think people head there treating it like a tourist attraction. Its a tomb.
And a shrine.

I am always completely overwhelmed when I visit Arlington. Row upon row upon row of white crosses and white stars of David. That's part of the reason I am so proud to have been in the company of so many great men and women. If I had it all to do over again, I would. I consider it a great, great honor.

I dont agree with your stance on guns but after reading your last few answers my opinion of you has certainly changed to a much more positive one

Is it foggy?
my understanding is that it got its name from a combination of the natural fog in the area, and from the polution from mills that used to be along the river near by...Foggy Bottom is at a lower elevation, so the "fog" would collect in this 'hood.

fortunately, the mills and such are long since gone, and i've yet to see any significant fog. the cherry blossoms are blooming right now, actually, and it's pretty durn pretty.

I hope the safe haven you are providing never becomes known to an ex-husband stalking the wife. I would hate to hear that your kindness and generosity put you or your family at risk. Not that you need the advice, but-Be careful.

Already at risk. They know where we are.

They also know we're armed. Oddly, in Virginia, if you have a No Trespassing notice served on someone, have a protective order served on them, and they step onto your property, it's hunting season. You've already proven in court that they are a lethal threat, and you are under no obligation to retreat.

The men seem amazingly aware of this bright line. Something they don't fear from the police.

what fad or trend from the last 5 years has annoyed you the most?

Since you are a fellow Southerner Dem, what do you think about the South? Have you lived here all your life? Do you ever witness racism and basic redneck behavior? Stuff like that

Well, I have lived here since I was 4, so that's practically all my life. I think I may tend to have a rather skewed view of the south, as I have never lived in the *rural* south. I have lived in Savannah, Macon, and Atlanta Georgia - all fairly major cities and Richmond Hill (a military suburb of Savannah).

Heading out into the more rural areas, things seem very different. Depending on my mood and exactly what is is, I may find it very quaint. I like driving into an old southern town that still has the same facades they've probably had since Reconstruction, there's a lot of history there. The suburb I live in now is like that, if you head into downtown.

However, I do notice much more racism and basic redneck behavior in the more rural areas - and in the older generations. In fact, the town I did most of my growing up in was fairly rural before it became the home for most of the men and women out at Fort Stewart. When I first moved there, it wasn't unusual to hear of "racial fights" at the high school, although they were generally planned well in advance (and the cops would, of course, show up and nothing would happen). It was almost like it was simply a holdover from older times that people didn't want to let go of. The more "redneck" crowd was one of the few circles I didn't really travel in much in high school, although I ended up around the band nerds, general nerds, goth types, black minority, etc. fairly often.

Certain members of my family tend to be racist - especially a certain uncle who I love to death otherwise, but can't be around when talk turns that direction. He was raised in the old south and never let go. Some of my family have not-so-fond memories of being bussed to a predominantly black school and catching a lot of hell for it (being a minority at *any* school is apparently hell) and while they try not to, a few of them have grudges that only come out every now and then.

When I went off to college, however, I got quite a shock - there was a girl there who was sweet as pie, but told us that, before coming to school, she didn't really know that gay people existed and had never met a black person. The idea really blew me away and let me know what some parts of the rural south are like. Luckily, she rose above all that while she was at school.

So, that was the really long answer to a fairly simple question. I do think that certain pockets of the south are places that are very pretty and quaint, but not places I would want to raise well-rounded children. However, I also think that those places are shrinking in size, and being replaced and remolded by our generation.

How do you like the south?

1: Only once, for my prom. Will be wearing it again for my Dads wedding. He won't let me come in a dress like I want to *cursed denial of who I am, eh?* Second best thing though, hehe. Don't have the money for my own one yet, and I don't see much use for it for *too* much longer, hopefully. They're still the best though.

2: I WAS studying business, I have since been dumped from the course because I stopped attending. If they'll take me back, I'd love to study ancient history.

3: Favourite food is.... chicken Korma. Made well, nothing can top it at all.

4: Favourite movie is easily Dr Strangelove at the moment.

I had the slight unfortunateness to fall for a few of them in the last 5 years. I was weak and susceptable to advertising, but now I resist. From the last five years...

Reality TV. That's it. I hate all reality TV shows without exception to the point of foaming at the mouth irrationally. Even if one had the gall to be good, I'd hate it out of principle, and that's usually fairly unlike me. But I feel it's a worthy exception.

How do you like the south?

Well.......

I've lived in an extreme rural part of Georgia my entire life. My grandmother's parents actually had slaves I'm told. They were good to them in the fact that they didnt beat them or do things like youve seen in the movie 'Roots"...but needless to say, that fact just baffles me. Slavery baffles me period.

I see racism everyday and end up defending minorities several times a week. Its rediculous and I'm sick of it. I dont want to raise my children in an environment where its so common. My daughter had to console one of her classmates the other day because another student called a little girl the "N" word. I despise that word. Keep in mind my daughter is in kindergarten. The offending child said "but my mommy and daddy say it." Thats so sad.

I guess if you looKed at my nation home page,my flag, motto..and knew how I was in real life, youd recognize that I am making fun of the stereotypical ''hick". I make fun of it because its stupid and I cant stand it.

The South, in general, is a beautiful charming place. So many old houses with detailed architectural design, the slow pace of life, sitting on the front porch drinking lemonade.....that part, I love. Its just the hatred of the rebel flag bearing rednecks that turn my stomach. I'm moving to Oregon soon and I'm looking forward to new scenery. I will miss Georgia I'm sure-its my home. But thats how I feel about it basically.

For a Swede, like me, it is so extremely strange that a person with these opinions call himself 'conservative'. It's like US has inverted the European use of these words. In Sweden this would be a somewhat extreme liberal (except the pro-gun thing, that noone sane around here would even consider as a political view).

BTW I have the almost the exact same view (except the guns then, but that's the Swede in me) and call myself a liberal. (Of course, around here the liberals and the conservatives work together against the greater enemy of socialism, (which you in US seem to call liberalism, because of strange historical reasons, I guess) but that's hopefully just temporary

aha, cunning.
So cunning, I could slap a tail on it and call it a weasel. I love you blackadder.

A question for Cogitation:

I picture you as a bit older than I, with blonde hair, neat, religious but not zealously so, but I can not for the life of me imagine what you do for a living!

I've thought about it for a moment, but I'm still drawing a blank.
I'm in my mid-late twenties (I don't know if that's younger or older than you). I do (usually) keep my hair neat. I will neither confirm nor deny that I am redheaded. I mean... blue. I mean... blonde.

My educational background is engineering. For the moment, I'll just leave it at that. ;)
