So here, post the best/amazing/interesting(in a good way only!) ways you've met someone special.

We met online, in a chat room

Our first conversation was, "You alright? Hey, where'd ya go, anyway?" "..the psych ward."

One night, late at night, on the phone, after a suicide attempt: "I don't know if this is the right time to say this, but uh.... Bay? I love you, and I want you to live. Now, get some rest..." "Zach? I think you should know that... all conversation I've been biting my tongue trying not to blurt you that I love you."

my current girlfriend and i started going out after sharing a bottle of tequila at a valentines day party. she was lying on top of me, and i was rather intently squeezing her left ass cheek. she said simply, "you're my boyfriend now. is that ok?" is said "yeah, sure." now of course, we had been seriously flirting for about a month beforehand, and she had sent me a candygram (my school has a candygram system set up for v-day) and i had given her a box of chocolates with a condom inside. a note in it said "yay! implied sex and chocolate! happy v-day!" we've been going out for a year and a couple months, and plan to get an apartment together once we're living in the same city again. stupid college.

I was marveling at how huge her instrument locker was after I had to find ways to stuff a bari sax into mine, which meant nothing else. Hers was huge even though she was just a voice major. Uh, not much to tell. She was really cute, so while we were exchanging insurance information, I asked her on a date. We dated for about 4 months.

Hmmmm......ways of meeting people.........

Well, I met my true love at a booze party. Typical, but so fun at the same time.


The most interesting way I met someone..........one word.......streaking. I will say no more, but let me tell you, that is one hell of a first impression to make.

...while we were exchanging insurance information, I asked her on a date...That man has class!

Now i'll share my story:

I met the girl I'm with now on a tramping club trip, at a hut out in the bush. She is the friend of someone who I've known from the club for ages so she came along and we met that night, started talking, had a nice disney-ish moment and after that spent the whole night with each other (No, nothing dirty. Thought i'd better mention that in the current tone of the thread!)

So a fantastically romantic chance meeting and so far it's working out, passing a year and a half soon.

well, i met a guy , in a bar after taking a good hour to work up the nerve to talk to him. so i went over, and said- hey- how are you. he says" fine. but dont get too friendly. i dont like the looks of sucked-in druggie looking chicks like you" i say- "well. fucking nice. but i was just going to tell your zipper was down, _____(insert offensive term for homosexual there)" and walked away. he called me two days later, having got my number from a friend, and also having figured out i dont do drugs,, and said- "you are pretty cool. i have never seen a person so smooth when they get turned down like that" so we dated for a few weeks.

I met my last boyfriend online, on thefacebook, which, for anyone whose school hasn't become totally addicted yet, is like connectu, or myspace, but unlike myspace, is only for colleges. We friended each other on Livejournal, and then didn't communicate for about a month. Mind you, we go to the same school. About two days after we had our first face-to-face conversation, we were officially dating. If anybody could ever be more perfect for me, I can't imagine him. Unfortunately, in the end he didn't feel the same. We dated for only a couple of months, but we've remained best friends, so the story still ends well.

Best was when I was in London, staying at a hostel... I passed this cute chick a couple of times and smiled at her, and she smiled back, and I caught her looking back at me, which caused her to duck into her room. Anyway, later we were downstairs using the net at the hostel... there were three puters and we were at either end. Anyway, we looked at each other and smiled, and then started talking to each other... I told her about how I was heading over to Ireland, and she asked me if I was going with anyone...

I said "Noone... I'm going by myself"
"Oh, I'll go with you then!"
"Cool... btw my names Spaam*"

So after she said she'd go to Ireland with me we introduced ourselves :D
Anyway, we continued talking while using the net, and then went off together for a long night time walk around London... we started holding hands... and I eventually kissed her on the Millenium Bridge ;)
And we started dating that night...

The first girl I ever asked out, I hardly knew. I don't even know why I asked her out to this day (it was in an internet chat room). I'd only started talking to her a few hours before. Something just clicked.
Then she left, and I thought "hmm, shit, I don't know anything about that girl" so I chatted with another girl from the chatroom who I knew was her friend. And who happened to study really close to my school (I went to school in the city). And we got on well together. So we met for lunch. With no ill intentions!
And, no, I never ended up dating the friend, I know it sounds like that's where the story is going. I just find it kinda amusing that I ended up going out on a lunch "date" with her friend before even meeting her. I met the girl that weekend, we got along well and started dating. She ended up dumping me after I got drunk at the first party we went to together, and made a fool of myself. I ended up lying on the lawn yelling about how much I loved her. Heh, stupid of me, but I still reckon there are worse things to get dumped over.
Upshot was her friend met my friend at that party and started dating. So I got to become pretty good friends with the friend, so I still feel like I came out of the whole situation with a net gain.

Now, my current girlfriend...
at uni in first year I'd sit with my (male) friend, and my (female) friend, and her friend. Her friend would never talk to us, she was very shy, but it's easy to interpret that as rude, especially if you're the snubbed person. One morning after class, when she'd left, after denying an invitation to join a group of us for a movie, I turned to my male friend and said "you'll see, one day that girl, she's going to talk to me. She's going to talk to us all". Kind of as a joke.
Well, it's true. My charm and wit won out in the end (or perhaps she just became more comfortable with us, since she's still shy around strangers), and we are still good friends. In fact I had lunch with her just today, and it's...what...five years later.
She was a big starwars fan, and when walking along talking about how episode 1 was going to be released (I think it was scheduled to be the high point of her life), we ran into a friend she had from a different class. Who gloated about how she had tickets to the midnight premier screening. When we left all I could remember of what her friend said was "gloat gloat gloat".

So, um, I've been dating that gloating friend (who really doesn't gloat that often, after all) for four years now, and the girl is dating my friend, who I vowed that she'd speak with us to. Perhaps next time I should vow that I'll become a multi-billionaire with minimal effort?

had been good pals over the internet with my partner for about 3 years and all of us from the community used meet up a couple of times a year so we had met each other face to face

I had just broken up with someone and was on the phone to my partner moaning about it all when he said

'does that mean your single now?'

I said yes and he asked if I would like to go out some time

I thought he meant as pals to cheer me up so answered in that way to which he said 'no on a date you muppet!'

the rest is history and we have been together a year now :)

A few weeks after I met her in person she told me, that she had a nightmare once, many years ago and had painted a picture of the person who appeared in her nightmare and then had forgotten about the whole thing for years.
She gave me the picture (she's a really good artist imho) and yes, it shows me.
