Hi all,

I got an email from Collegeboard saying they had lost my March 12th SAT scores along with 5% of all other test takers...but that i was going to get a free retake. The rest of the scores will go up tomorrow at 8:00am EST as planned.

Did anyone else get such an email??

*goes off to a corner and cries*

I really, really didn't want to take this again...ever. :( Happy april/-pre-sat-score-day-fools! and Good luck! Ha, ha, ha. Kat is going to kill me.

*pats Zoogie on the shoulder*

If it's any consolation, scores tend to be higher on the retake...

it's true. the first time i took the old SAT i got 1280, and the second time i took it i got 1530. but that was wayyyy back when it was out of 1600.

Aw...I feel bad now. I was only pulling your leg :D Since we get scores tomorrow, people were supposed to all freak out and scream and run around and stuff...

But thanks for being nice anyways. ;)

As a certified SAT scorer, I can tell you that's not true.

I work for Pearson Educational Measurement in Auburn, WA. I score the new essay questions. So aside from routinely weeping at what passes for responses to the essay, I can tell you both from company figures and personal experience (March 1988, score = 1210; June 1988 after a prep class even, score 1200) that the first test, barring any illness or recent/lingering emotional distraction, is usually the better of any multiple attempts.

As far as the lost 5%, that blows, and blows mightily. I'd ask for an UNTIMED retake in order to stave off your anxiety. Get a note from your doctor or whatever ETS requires and demand your re-take be untimed. I know I'd have done a hell of a lot better if I hadn't been constantly looping back to the goddamned clock to make sure I wasn't taking too long per question. Timing the test is a travesty.

Either way, best of luck.

Hehe, highlight the hidden portion at the end of the post. It was a joke.

On the really, really, really crappy side of things, I'm going to have to retake it anyways.
