By the way, how the hell did British food get on before Turkish, hmm?

Gah. Italian food just seems so... plain. It just seems like the same crap over and over again. And, also, jeez, enough with the carbo-packed foods! I mean there's only so much bread and pasta you can take.

Cuisine is all about mood. Picking a favorite, for me, is like trying to choose which red blood cell in my entire circulatory system is the most efficient. Possible? I suppose, but pointless.

So much good food, so little time!
Greek
Italian
Mexican
Tex-Mex
Santa Fe
Thai
Indian (next time you're in Seattle, I recommend Cedars)
Chinese
Cajun
Barbecue -- any style, sauce or rub
A good ass-kicking cheeseburger

Wash whatever it is down with a lovely beverage.

SCREW THE DEBATE, LET'S EAT!

Yes, haggis is famous. But you apparently like dolmas. And dolmas are Turkish (in the sense that, when comparing cuisine, the Turks and the Greeks are extraordinarily similar). Hell! We probably have spanikopita too, except I don't know what its Turkish equivalent would be. But gyros are Turkish (except for the name which is, once again, Greek), and everyone has had a gyro. Rice pilaf, if you know it, is in essence Turkish (though if you've had it it's almost certainly a corrupted version). We also have baklava (the Greeks have some too, but at this we easily trump them). And we have pide, which few people seem to know about, but which everyone seems to universally love. Plus we have Iskender doner (which is my personal favorite and is being thrown in just because of this, in spite of the fact that very few folks stateside know it).

I voted for it, you bloody savage turk!

That actually is sort of true. I mean... yogurt is everywhere. Hell, we drink yogurt (and might I say, it's delicious). It is, however, possible to get by on great food and abstain from yogurt consumption. Trust me, my two sisters both did it last time we were over there. (Even though my vegan cousin didn't! Ha! And hurray for yogurt!)

I'd put on an angry Turkish accent, except that none exists. ):

If at any point we become angry, we merely revert to Turkish or we simply don't have accents. So I'll just scoff dismissively and walk away. (And note parenthetically that you guys are just jealous cause no one likes your baklava.) ;)

Yes, I work with several Turks, and I've heard of this legendary drink. I understand that the main ingredients are yoghurt and salt. As for Greeks, I've tried gyros before. I hate sour cream, too. Hasn't all this warring between Turks and Greeks been about whose form of rotten milk is better?

Probably better than what the fellows in the advertising department have come up with. It's unfortunate, but, even though many Turks speak some form of English, it's all-too-rare to find a document not riddled with grammatical errors. I got a book about Atatürk translated into English once, but it was so sad because it was unreadable. ):

But now that I come to think of it, we don't really do enough advertising for Turkey. That's why they need me! ^.^

I've only really been posting with some frequency within the last month or two... before that I was a bit of a lurker, which would be the reason why I've remained somewhat under the radar. Seems to take forever to get noticed around here. Le sigh.

On a completely unrelated note, I've decided that Mediterranian food's pretty yummy, except that I don't care much for olives. Why people actually eat the bloody things is beyond me.

I hear that the French also have a contender. They don't just let the milk rot until it's thick. They let it go to a total solid, and then rot even more back to a liquid.

I'm the same. :)

Also on the pilaf issue; it's one of those dishes that gets around. ;) In Indian cooking there's the pilau variant, which is SO GOOD! It's meat and vegies marinated in spices and yoghurt cooked in a whole heap on lentils and covered in basmati rice. The whole lot is baked in the oven and topped with caramelised onion rings at the end.
