Which Pizza Chain Shall Reign Supreme?

In the epic battle of the pizza chains, which is the best? I like Papa Johns because it actually has FLAVOR and it isn't so saturated in oil and fake cheese that it makes your stomach boil like Pizza Hut's so called "pizza".

Being a former Dominos employee, I can damn near guarantee it won't be them. I vote Pizza Hut because I like their pizza the best.

None.

In the city I was born, there is an Italian restaurant making the best Pizza evah - at least in my book. Cooked in the uh... "Holzofen"; you can nearly see through it, the stuff on it is all fresh, and those monsters are HUGE.

But I hate American style Pizza, anyway.

I'd prolly have to say Papa John's as well. Their pizza is goooo-ood, and even their thin base stuff actually feels like a proper meal, unlike so many places where you get a half-millimeter slice of cheese on a wafer of bread.

Having said that, I've never had Little Caeser.

I like Sbarro's, too, but mainly for the convenience. Damn, we need Sbarro's in England =/
Cannot think of a name

Pleasure Pizza...if you accept chains that only have two links...in the same town...

I like Round Table because the ones in my hometown rocked...and just in general like thier pizza better...despite having worked there briefly when I couldn't get my girlfriend to understand I didn't need a job...(different story)

However-Round Table charges waaaaaaaay too damn much for thier pizza...

Rosa's Pizza in downtown Atlanta in the Fairlie-Poplar district. Excellent pizza and cheap too. I dom't care for chain store pizza it's pretty bad but not as awful as frozen pizza.

Berrtucci's (http://www.bertuccis.com/) Is the only one I can think of that's in more then one state that makes decent pizza. Haven't tried Little Cesars. Probably wouldn't eat it anyway since that money supports The Detroit Red Wings.

wow, four choices of crap pizza. Local pizza be best, or homemade pizza. If me had to coose the me choose Me n' Eds. A local chain, classic design of buildings, beer on tap, good eating pizza.

I like Little Caesar's from the list but there's a place near my house called 'O Milano'. They make some good Greek pizza.

always, and aside from the flavor being better, it isnt an evil franchise where peoples monay flows into a bottomless pit never to be seen by the local economy again.

None of the above. It should be a local pizza place in Arizona that makes some of the best pizza ever, Oregano's.

Papa Johns.

They were created by the same people who made Pizza Hut before it was bought out by Pepsi. Their pizza is better and they give better deals.

Dominos has only just appeared in Melbourne, so I haven't had it yet. Pizza Hut has been around for years, but I reckon their pizzas are disgusting - all oily dough & very little/poor quality toppings. The other two chains aren't in Aus. I choose none, I'd rather go to a local shop & pay a bit more to get a far superior pizza.

Pizza Pizza or Pizzaville.

Pizza Hut has weird crust, I really dont' trust little caesars, Dominos is crappy if I recall and I've never had papa johns.

Out of the poll choices I voted Papa Johns.
Donatos is the best national chain, and the best pizza I've tasted is Grandma's Pizza in Columbus, Ohio.

After my experiences with these chains, I've gotta say Little Caesar's.

Papa John's is arguably the best national chain. Locally, though, without a doubt it's Pagliacci in Seattle.

The only ones we get here are Dominoes and Pizza Hut.

And I will say that Dominoes is shithouse.

Had to vote for pizza hut. Not the best, but they're expaning into huge markets like China...

Best I ever had was at a little place in Big Flat California. It was run by a retired hippy who grew almost all his own ingredients. It's the best named pizza place I know of, as well: Big Flat Pizza. :)

Papa John's is nasty and the cheese is never on the pizza by the time they deliver it. The Glass Nickel is the best pizza. Or Rocky Roccoco's. :)
New Granada
10-04-2005, 07:14
The best pizza place doesnt deliver.

Ray's Pizza, people drive far and wide because it is worth it.

The best delivery place is Barros.

The best place for gourmet pizza is probably pizzaria bianco but i'm too lazy to go since they dont have lunch. Sammy's Pizza was great until they closed their tatum/shea location (the mill ave one doesnt have proscuttio+pear pizza)

Jesus Brand Pizza reigns supreme. Take, eat and ye shall be delivered. In thirty minutes or less.
Kelleda
10-04-2005, 09:54
Maybe Vince's, if we're going for a primarily pizza place - and they deliver too.

Eduardo's has a higher-grade pizza, but they're mostly fine Italian dining, with prices to match, and nothing going to your doorstep...

The best pizza in the world is in Italy. Get over it.

As for the poll, I said Pizza Hut. I've seen Dominoes pizza and it looked like cardboard. I've never heard of the other two. The Pizza Hut here is nice, and it's about the only restaurant chain in the country which gives free refills.

Papa John's is the best of those four, but it is to pizza what McDonalds is to meat. :D

There is no pizza in the US west or south of Philadelphia, or north of Boston.
(Exception: Chicago, but that's a different species of pizza.)

I've had 'za in 29 states. Barring a very few exceptions (ie: there's a stone-fired place called Emilio's in Sterling VA off route 28), real pizza outside the zone of the US I mentioned does not exist.

The very best? Anywhere in the New York to New Haven corridor.

Shoutouts to Pepe's and Modern in New Haven. ;)

I realize this is about chains, so I'll give that answer first. In Atlanta, Mellow Mushroom is superior to all of them. Uncle Vinnies's New York Pizza is a close second. But there is this place in Vinings that is incredibly good. The name just slips my decaying brain for the moment.

Papa Johns: Because their pizza isn't just some cheap dough with crappy toppings bathed in grease. Their pizzas actually have FLAVOR and their crusts are oh-so-good.

Pizza Hut is the worst on that list. I mean, Dominoes is better than Pizza Hut.

Seriously man.

Got me. I live in Connecticut, where we BARELY have Tex Mex. (Okay, "On the Border" is not really it, but it beats Taco Bell.) But I've been to the UK. If it wasn't for the Indian & Pakistani places, I'd think that Heinz mustard is their idea of spicy. ;)

There IS Baja's, which is in Orange, CT. The cooks are from Baja, Mexico and the place closes for all of January for their vacation.

Mellow Mushroom is good but those commercials scare the hell out of me. "Keep on shrooming", "Mellow Mushroom", etc. Obviously they're using some special mushrooms on their pizzas...

Lol!

Yeah, I've lived in Pakistan and Bangladesh, and their foods are very similar(Pakistani is actually almost exactly like Indian, just give and take a few dishes). Now that I eat things that people say are "spicey" here, I laugh and say "You ain't had nothin' until you've been to the Indian Sub-continent!".

Indian food in foreign countries is nice, but you can only get the best and freshest ingredients from the area itself.

My favorite chain pizza would have been Little Caesars... but they pulled all their franchises out of our area :( So I picked Dominos. Pizza Hut and Papa Johns are so frigging greasy it's like eating a fried food.

As for local shops, Nonconformists is right. Ramunto's is the best pizza in the area. But we also have Everything But Anchovies over in Dartmouth College and they have unlimited pizza buffet on Monday and Tuesday, which is sweet. And their pizza is real good too.

* I am not an agent or shareholder of EBAs, I just like their pizza.

My favorite is Sbarro's. For one thing, it's located nicely at the mall. And the pizza is much better then the crap Pizza Hut. The only time I liked Domino's was when I was on vacation at this one place. Papa John's is pretty good but they got rid of all the locations around where I live. And then Little Ceasers only has this one location near me, and it has cheap pizza, but it's not the best. I guess their pizza is okay. So I go Sbarro's.

I did some work for the Indian government in Bhatinda, Punjab. The pizza choices were pretty limited to cheese, cheese and green pepper, or cheese and green pepper with tomatoes. We spent our last night in New Dehli before we flew back to the States. The hotel concierge recommended a pizza place nearby, so we went. I was thrilled to find a Pepperoni pizza on the menu and ordered it. I got a cheese pizza with ground pepper on it. I guess pepperoni really meant pepper on pizza to the Indians. We had a pretty good laugh over it. At least it wasn't yellow dahl or chick peas.

I have a liking for CiCi's and Pasquales. *Drools at thought.* Out of the choices, I'd say Papa John. I have some Pizza Hut childhood trauma. Every time I smell the pizza sauce, the smell of cigarettes comes to me. Every time I taste it, it's like I just swallowed a cigarette butt. *Coughs, vomits.*

We actually found a bandaid in a Pizza Hut pizza once.

"This pizza tastes like.... taste like a Band Aid...

"Umm that dotted pattern IS a Band Aid."
