Take it, yo.

More about scholars here: http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/theories.html , I played my personal bias out of it as best as possible, and only deemed one scholar unscholarly, which I defy you to find any prominent scholar who doesn't disagree with me.

The quiz does not pressuppose that Jesus of faith and JEsus of history are two different figures, but pressupposes that one can differentiate between the two.

I'm J. Dominick Crossan

Wow, the quiz isn't very accepting of those who don't believe in Jesus. They could have at least said that I'm entitled to my opinion instead of calling me a raving lunatic.

It doesn't work for me. Clicking the button does nothing.

This is why I will not take this quiz.

um... falhaar, if you got Pagan Origins, it's because its not a scholarly opinion. Earl Doherty has a somewhat similar hypothesis, but is far more scholarly.

Fass, sometimes it takes a few clicks.

Okay, this is just pissing me off, now. Only one scholar on there believes that the historical Jesus is the JEsus of faith, and the rest don't. I only call one unscholarly, and that's because he is. I personally don't believe the historical Jesus was the Jesus of faith.

But it's nice to see people judging things based on a single disgruntled response.

Oh, it worked now. To confirm what Falhaar said I chose all the "he didn't exist" answers, and I will till you that calling people "douche bags" does not reflect well on whomever made the quiz.

"I dunno" - Quit being such a wuss and make up your mind. Re-take the test and quit picking "I dunno" so much.

You couldn't have chosen all of them, there are two scholars who believe he didn't exist. One I have nice things to say about, the other, not so much. I cleaned up the language to less insulting, though. I apologize for any offense; I didn't remember using such language.

J. Dominic Crossan - You present Jesus as a hero to the secularists of today: a counter-cultural, against what was percieved to be an exclusivist religion. Jesus saw himself only as a teacher, and nothing truly exceptional. You're by far the biggest name in Historical Jesus scholarship and tend towards the left in terms of your thinking. One of your main writings was "Jesus: a Revolutionary Biography"

Me? Here:

John P. Meier - The author of the meticulous "A Marginal Jew" series, you believe that Jesus saw himself as the messiah, and that the Kingdom of God was a comsic kingdom which was both present "now and soon." You're one of the more conservative of the modern scholars.

Your quiz is impossible to take from the Muslim point of view. Remember: Isa (Jesus) is one of our prophets. We believe in the virgin birth, but not in the crucifixion or ressurection.

Christians don't have a lock on Jesus, ya know.

Hurm... good point. I don't know of any scholars that attest that view, though. Sorry about that...

You can take it. You just have to renounce part of your faith. Surely that's a small price to pay for an internet quiz.

I gave some none-of-the-above answers which should make things less problematic for you.
