Like none of us saw this coming... Reminds me of the video of the BMW engineer that built a minicooper that transformed into a giant robot. Never remembered hearing if it was a fake or not...

The Mini-Robot was definitely fake - it was part of an advertising campaign

Now whenever I cut a mini off in traffic I wont have to worry about it going transformers on me! :D

Honda, I think, has already made some smaller walking transportation machines which look a little like the taller assault suits from Starship Troopers Chronicles.

That is just wierd...aside from being totaly impracticle, since it would crush most staircases instead of helping disabled people get up them :P

You know, a Muscle Car is also damn impracticable, since it's guzzling 20+ litres of gasoline per 100 km, still I want one. ;)

Yes, but at least muscle cars look cool.

actually, the mech is very real, there's a demonstration video and everything. If you understand japanese, you can tell it tells you the basic stats of the vehicle in the page. The mech moves pretty damn slow, I'd say 3 mph at top speeds, and it's scary how much it wobbles from side to side when it walks on flat surfaces. The mech is a toy, it's meant for playing a game. It shoots the fluffy rubber ball pictured from its chaingun. It's a pretty sweet mech, but it's really just meant for some form of game they have in mind :P

Cool :D *Is obsessed with this kind of tech* I wonder fi this means they'll be invented some really cool technology sometime soon...like, as someone mentioned before, Gundams. OK...I'm leaving before someone starts thinking I'm weird...

(And 1.5 kph is about .9 mph, Shimikami. ;))

well, I'd like to point out that it doesn't look like an at-st (all terrian scout transport) or 'chicken walker'.

it is more reflective of the AT-PT (all terrian personal transport) mentioned in some of the later books, that were used by the old republic.

Looks like it's armed with a 30mm chaingun. That'll rip through a tank or two. That .50 caliber cannon seems promising too.

Still far away from the Monster mechs in MechWarrior.

For some reason I think the walking one looks like the sort of chair Ming the Merciless would use (or any other megalomaniac bent on World domination).

Didn't it look like one of the old school light mechs? I can't remeber the name, but it looked damn familiar. (been a while since I played Battletech, and I only played table top)

Note that the machine is not walking... it's rolling.

Independent motion on the legs, but it's skating more than anything else.

Ah well, just another party looking to build giant robots...
