i've always been a fan of the old show "mtv unplugged." i was wondering, if the show would come back today, who would be a good act?

my votes:

the pixies, since they're back.
white stripes
audioslave
local h
the vines
queens of the stone age
foo fighters

is there anyone else who could make a good act?

yeah, as soon as i thought of them i smiled. then, of course, i frowned, cause i remember that mtv sucks and would never do anything i might actually enjoy.

ditto. but "do it again" could potentially be fuckin awesome without the assorted electronic amplification. then again, it could suck ass. we may never know.

i think that new song, little sister, would be great. lost art of keeping a secret would be great as well.

especially with mark lanagin.

I'd have to pick:

3 doors down (heard some of their acoustic stuff, a full set would be really cool)
Breaking Benjamin (even though I'm not sure wether it would work)
Live

And I was dragged to an unplugged set by Breed 77 and was more than pleasently supprised, those guys are a lot better than I thought

Seriously. I mean it.
Thirty minutes of dead air would be the best thing I've heard on mtv in the last 20 years.

OH! Take me with you! I have the Black Francis solo acoustic bootleg from NC ('90). Only 6 songs... but it rocks.

and i've wondered what los angles sounded like unplugged - any good? Well, that's perfectly ok. And I really don't know what Los Angeles sounds like unplugged. This cd only has Holiday Song, Gouge Away, Dead, Mr. Grieves, Cactus and Nimrod's Son.

For Live in Vienna 1989. (A show I saw btw :) ). I'd say it was a poor trade, but hey... win some, lose some.

Yeah. That one. I traded 60+ minutes of soundboard quality for 14 minutes of solid cassette deck quality with a cut end. Go me. :D

dude.. you actually went to that one? thats awesome. a great sounding concert, from what i can tell.

anytime anyone tries to tell you it was a bad trade, just tell 'em "it was a good tape, it was just a better show in person."

they'll shut up.

they'll shut up. I wish I could truly say that, but as often happens when you're 19 and at a foreign country... I'm afraid I was quite drunk at that concert. But if anybody asks, I just say "It was awesome! I remember every little detail of it!".

if anyone questions it, you can always ask them to tell you how it went. chances are they cant.

either way, im sleepy. perhaps we can talk more about how great the pixies are another time. later.

post script - NSers, keep this thread alive. any suggestions would be nice.

I reckon a band like Lacuna Coil or Nightwish could either be really good or really poor, Lacuna coil would prob be better

Ghehe Nightwish. If that was done unplugged, wouldn't it just be Tarja Turunen going back to her roots as a opera singer? :)
