Hey, souls are goods. Selling them on the free market is capitalism, not socialism! There should be soul exchanges, really. Then we could compare the relative worths of everyone's soul.
It's true it takes no work to own your soul, but presumably there's labor involved in the tortures of Hell for all eternity.
