Now, we all know that I'm insanely steriotypical and automatically presume that the people I post with are guys (which is the truth 90% of the time), but because I heard that fabled gaming girls actually do in fact exist, I just have to ask because I've been surprised one too many times.

I just thought the percentages would be easier to tally that way, though tis nice to see eveyone post which they are so mistakes of guy and gal comments aren't made in future posts. I probably mistook the purpose of the thread which I thought was for percentage purposes. If so I humbly apologize. :)

I found out about NationStates from a guy, and I think I prefer chatting with guys.. er.. does that sound weird? I am NOT weird. :p

Perfectly fine to prefer chatting with guys. In fact, one of my best friends is a chick, and she's the same way. She and I have such a great relationship, but sometimes, I wonder if I should try to see if anything else can come of it. But then again, I don't want to risk destroying a wonderful relationship.

I don't think it'd be to much of a mystery if I just let people guess. But those who are dense will just have to stay in the dark. :p

A girl friend of mine actually got quizzed by some guys when she told them she was in to video games and they didn't believe her. They asked her stuff like who the main character from the Legend of Zelda games was and such. :p

I did a documentary last year on a gaming convention (unfortunately it was one of like 8 that year, so I just shelved it) and one of the things I went in thinking was that I was going to get all dudes. The convention happened on Valentines Day so I was hoping to get some conflict there with bitter lonely dudes and the ones with girlfriends being dragged off.

What I got instead was-a lot of people who had been going for quite some time, not many new attendees except one of my subjects, and a lot of women. For the most part they where pretty well accepted and respected-and I did also notice that the dudes where a little better groomed and not smelly-which wasn't the case when I used to go as a kid (I hadn't been in years). So I have to say if just for that they where a welcome change.

One of the other things I rather enjoyed was that despite the clear presence of women some gamers still recited the stereotype that there are no women (in one shot one player talked about how 'he knew the touch of a woman, unlike 99% of the people here' while women passed behind him. In one rough cut I used b-roll of a couple of gamers having a quick kiss, but I eventually took it out because it seemed like I was making fun of that guy...which I kinda was...)

From what I observed there are plenty of women gamers. It's just hard to break the habit of saying there aren't, I guess.

I use spontaneity, randomness and bursts of energy, to amuse myself, others and to get over a long week of school. Its fun, but won't get me far in relationships.
