All the women I don't like want me, and all the women I like don't want me. I can't win!

*siiiiiiiigh*

That aside, dating is just fun. It's fun to be with someone, it's fun to flirt. That's all it is at this stage of my life.

for a guy... i think it is a pyschological thing... SEX. :fluffle:
Sex is why we drink,
sex is why we want money,
sex is why we gamble,
sex is why we date.

that is just the experiances i have had as a guy, and from discussions with friends

I have a feeling that probably every female on this earth (excluding my family members and those who have yet to meet me) does one (or more) of the following:
-hate me
-despise me
-think I'm an internet nerd (Can't have anything to do with 2+ hours of NS a day, can it?)
-think I'm a politics nerd
-think I'm a gaming nerd
-think I'm socially inept and a moron
-etc etc ad nauseum

If only I could find someone who is interested in what I am interested in.

Y'know, with the right girl, these things work FOR you. ;)

Gaming girls do exist, you just have to look reeeeeeally hard for them.

To me, dating is about getting together with someone and having fun. It can turn romantic, but whatever happens happens and that's that.

Believe it or not, there are girls out there who want 'nerdy' guys. I'm one of them, guys like this are generally sweeter, they listen, can hold a decent conversation and will watch Alien with me... but I prefer to call my men intellectual.

Right now, dating is about having fun and getting close to someone for me. Marriage is like this dim little light on the horizon, a slight consideration, but not the focus. Later, I'm sure I'll get more serious, but for now...I'm just happy with my boyfriend.

And nerdy guys rock. They are the bestest ones! ;)

They hide in their caves as well as gaming guys? If so, we'll never meet, even if we're in the same dorm. But if we're in the same chat room however... lol

The end result is marriage, but not every dating relationship should be treated like it will end in marriage. Of course, if you know you're going to clash with this person later on, why bother (Unless, of course, she's a REALLY good lay ;) )

Ah, casual sex is OK for me. Why do you need anything else?

"Dating" is the name given to the stupid courtship rituals people feel they have to go through when attracted to someone. It's also got some elements of a job interview and a police inspection, making it all the more fun and worthwhile.

Dating involves standardized behaviors designed to eliminate the need for individual thought. Instead of actually figuring out what to do with someone, you just say "date" and then a host of agendas, pre-written (mostly by popular culture and mass media) pops up automatically with no actual cognition, imagination or - heaven forbid! - even romance.

Meanwhile, 'romance' is just like dating, though much more vague and even more overhyped and boring.

I'm a human animal. I see another human animal I'm attracted to, that's that. Why date? So I can talk about stupid shit as some sort of test to screen me from all the genetic mistakes my partner has likely 'dated' before? Bullshit! People need to be more honest, and it starts with stripping away these tired euphemisms and rituals.

And fetching me a beer.

*shudders* Dating horrid horrid. Tis what got me married.

And no it's the intelligent men who like gaming, politics, open friendly debates, etc... that are the myth. They do not exist as far as I can find. And the ones that do are taken and a line-up for them when and if they break up has ensued.

It's mutual in the sense that the guy is often more than willing to tag along. :p

Though there are reverse relationships too...

What doesn't work is being a perpetual whiner who thinks nothing about themselves is any good. Low self-esteem is a REAL turn off.

If you have low self-esteem, at least put up a good front to appear confident.

Dating's crap. I prefer to go with biological instinct--nature's way ;) Plus, in the end, there's most likely no such thing as "the one", but you can have a number of really good mates. ;)

On top of that, no girl would be sane enough to actually want me. :p

Personally, I think we should go back rto arranged marriage. Love is nice as a concept, but not practical as a basis for Marriage. Money, influence, background, that is what is important. Love can come in arranged marriages, and if not, thats what consorts are for.

Yeah but who arranges the marriages Ren? My family tried that for me... The first one left me all but standying at the alter and the second turned out to already be married and to have been a convicted sex offender to boot. *shudders* thanks I can screw my life up perfectly well on my own without family assistance.
