I need to build my own web site so I can uppload my short films and other 'video' projects on to the site. My porfolio if you will.
Since I have never made a web page in my life I need some help.
1. What kind of web building program do I need?
2. What about web servers? I need 1.5 GB minimum.
2. Domain names, were do I get them?
3. Can I or Do I have to make my own template? Not that that matters much.
4. What kind of web video players can I gat to put on my site (FREE) so people can see the films? WMP, Quick Time etc.
etc.

Thanks.

1) I use Dreamweaver - good program but expensive
2) Omnis Network has good storage and good bandwidth for a good price and so far good customer service.
3) GoDaddy
4) You don't need a template but it makes things easier
5) Put links to the proper applications needed to view the videos that you are uploaded. Depends upon video format.

Good luck!

1. Dreamweaver, but its a little complicated to learn. you could go for MS Frontpage - its simpler and does most of the work for you (especially if you're not looking for a really fancy site)
2. look around on google. or...
3. http://www.ukreg.com/ sells domain names cheaply, plus YOU own them (often these sites keep ownership... cheeky  ), and you can get your stuff hosted with them. not sure about the webspace limit, but check em out
3. Frontpage does a lot of it for you and you can build the site from one of their templates. Dreamweaver you make your own
4. Not 100% sure. in my experience just put the videos up there and give the link. if people have the codec (ie DivX - which you may have to provide a link to) then there should be no problems. fancy solutions i don't really know.

hope that helps :)

You're welcome. Oh and you can download a trail version of Dreamweaver. Check out Macromedia.
