And a transcript of his statment: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/4417575.stm

One month before the elections this is obviously a political move, but if genuine, and if the Irish justice minister of was correct in his assertion that Adams and two other senior members of Sinn Fein are on the IRA army council this means that at least three of seven of them are in favour of disbanding.
If they pull it off, I’d expect to see them in power in the government of the south within two elections.

it could easily be Adams trying to undo recent things (such as the big bank robbery, or the McCartney murder) that have damaged Sinn Feins reputation

i wouldnt trust Gerry Adams as far as i could throw him (same goes for Ian Paisley and the rest of the Northern Irish politicians)

Its the silver tongue of the republican ;). I seriously hope that this is genuine and we wont be let in for another big disappointment. Fingers crossed that Mr. Adams will do the right thing and pull it off.

Sinn Féin leader calls on IRA to disband.

Is it just me that can't find the term 'disband' anywhere in either of those pages?
