The Charles and Camilla wedding thread

Place your bets ladies and gentlemen! It's been months since we've had a Royal wedding (Princess Mary and Prince Frederick of Denmark)! So, what do you think about this unholy union between inbreed and horse? I thought beastiality was illegal, but Chuck still wants to go ahead with this (can I say beastiality?). They've had a bit of poor luck lately, they can't have the wedding at Windsor castle, they've delayed it too so it does not clash with the Pope's funeral. Personally I would have thought that the worst luck was that he was marrying her, but I suppose it has to be a union of love, I fear the day someone could lust after either...

So what do you think about Chuck and cammy?

Aliens 'to attend royal wedding'
From correspondents in London
April 06, 2005

IT has already suffered a royal snub, planning gremlins and a last-minute postponement. Now, British people are being asked to bet on the next mishap to hit the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.

The cheeky offer from a firm of bookmakers came after the wedding was put back by a day to Saturday to avoid a clash with the funeral of Pope John Paul II.

Previously, the happy couple were hit by the news that Charles's mother, Queen Elizabeth II, will not attend the marriage ceremony, just a blessing service afterwards.

The venue also had to be switched from Windsor Castle, the royal residence just west of London, to Windsor's town hall after officials realised that licensing the castle for the civil ceremony would have meant allowing other couples to wed there.

In odds released by bookmakers William Hill, Britons can gamble at 33-1 that a fed-up Camilla will stand Charles up on the day.

The odds for the Prince to do the same are 40-1, while 25-1 buys a bet that Charles's son Prince William will lose the couple's wedding rings.

Even more hopefully, the chances of snowstorms or floods were given at 100-1, while the odds of aliens landing in Windsor on the wedding day were 10,000-1.

I think the wedding might only last about an hour or so. The marriage, on the other hand, could be long-term :D

OK, sorry to nitpick. I think it'll last actually, they've clearly been in love with each other for decades. I'm not a big fan of either of them, but good luck to them anyway. At least if they just get on with it we'll stop hearing about them all the time :)

Why, I've always found Big Ears rather hilarious in a tragic way. Can't put my finger on exactly why, but as the marriage is such an outrageously unequal one in terms of social ranks it's at least interestesting to see what'll happen.

I voted on the "Di cloning" option. I suppose they would be forced to divorce by someone if they managed to get another Di in the picture... But how likely is that?

Lip readers reveal royal banter
by Justine Parker
April 11, 2005

PROFESSIONAL lip readers have reportedly revealed exactly what was said in those tense moments following the weekend's royal wedding.

The Queen did not even make eye contact with Camilla as she and the happy couple faced photographers together for the first time on the steps of St George's Chapel.

But UK tabloid News of the World has translated the newlyweds' nervous banter with the help of a crack team of lip readers, who reportedly spent two hours decoding the couple's post-wedding whisperings.

Charles and Camilla seemed relieved the whole ordeal was finally over – after a 35-year courtship – as they chatted while waiting for the Queen to appear for the royal photo opportunity.

CHARLES: "Well, here we are then."
CAMILLA: "I was rather nervous."
CHARLES: "Well, we're married now."
CHARLES: "Right, so to the plan now ... look over at all the well-wishers, lovely isn't it?"
CAMILLA: "Oh yes ... this hat is no good in the wind."
CAMILLA: "Where's the Queen?"
CHARLES: "They'll be along soon. She'll be having a good old chat."

Famously dubbed "the rottweiler" by Princess Diana, Camilla has been barely tolerated by the Queen over the years.

And her discomfort was evident when she eventually joined the couple on the steps.

The Queen apparently gave the event her seal of approval in a brusque exchange with Charles – not even saying a word to Camilla – before attempting a hasty escape.

QUEEN: "That all went rather well."
CHARLES: "Yes."
QUEEN: "We're leaving now."
CHARLES: "Oh, I really want a picture of us all."

Granting her son's wish, she then stood even further away from Camilla, moving closer to Charles as photographers captured the awkward moment for the world to see.

How could someone married to this: http://homepage3.nifty.com/diana/ph-white1.jpg

Turn around and marry this?http://uk.news.yahoo.com/050322/325/feqhf.html

This makes no sense to me. Further proof that the monarchy has gone mad I think.

I spent the whole of saturday not turning on my radio or TV, knowing it would be full of royalists blowing this event out of all proportion.

To some up my view, person with jug ears who talks to plants marries some other person who becomes Duchess of Cornwall or something.

Personally I hope they're happy together and don't wish harm to either of them. You compare Charles' expression when he married Diana with the one where he married Camilla; which is the happier Charles? The second one. These two should have been married 30 years ago, they were already 'dating' before he was married. So I wish them all the luck in the world and hope they're happy together.

to be fair the Queen seemed fairly pleased with the whole thing, she had a beaming smile on her face for the bit that i saw. didnt look too forced, although i suppose shes practiced it when shes out visiting people

and that lip reading thing, its funny how Camilla says "Wheres the Queen?" instead of "Wheres your mum?"

i couldnt care less who he marrys as long as hes happy, i wouldnt like being forced to marry someone i didnt love because my mum didnt like the person i loved

and they should make William King, hes much more interesting, much more like a normal guy
