Okay, so KOTOR 2 has some serious problems. The game was rushed for Christmas, and my god, the ending blows. They cut out several planets, endings, and even some of the other stuff. This can be found on the disks of KOTOR 2 (PC mind you). Like, what ever happens with HK? You can talk to him, and gain influence, but you never get anything. Answer? You were supposed to go to a robot world, where he was manufactured. But that was cut out. What about G0-T0? Cut out. And the catty fight between Visas and Handmaiden? Thats out too.

The dark side ending to KOTOR 2 is nonexistant. It's not even a good or bad ending. It just doesn't exist.

edit: Saying that, those online petitions are ridiculously stupid, and as such, I refuse to "sign" it.

Agree with you completely. Another case of Lucasarts screwing the pooch in favour of profits.

And I've already signed the petition;)

I have to agree it was seriously dissapointing at the end.

I eagerly awaited getting the first one and it was fantastic.

I eargerly awaited the second one for when it was released in October.....for US <.<

Yes, they can simutaneously release Halo 2 all over the world but not KoTOR 2 lol.

So after another few months of waiting I finaly got it and lost alot of sleep over it.

Got to the end and was stunned at the last scene - what the hell?

At first I just wanted to agree with all of the above, just finishing the game last night myself, however I soon realised that I have a lot of issues with lucas and its numerous affiliates. And, damn, it's pissing me off! They screwed the new indiana jones movie up, they screwed the new sam&max game up, they keep redoing original star wars movies (enough already!), they make crappy games for CONSOLES, and now this. I mean, KOTOR2 is not a bad game. It's better than I expected, and the story is actualy pretty good (certainly better than KOTOR), but YOU HAVE TO FINISH A GAME BEFORE YOU SELL IT!

Although the ending was awful, I was still happy with the game as a whole.

The game left so many plots unfinished...

You go around collecting parts for HK and then .... nothing :P

I found that the game in general was disappointing. It focussed on combat a lot more than KOTOR 1, and frankly, that's not what this game is about and the engine isn't designed for extensive combat. And then, of course, the plot itself seemed as though it wouldn't be very good even before it started to grow thin and then peter out at the end.

But regardless, I don't see what you think a petition is going to accomplish. They've sold plenty of copies of KOTOR 2 now -- what, you think a company gives a damn what you think after you've bought their product?! That's like suggesting a government cares what you think after the election! Doesn't work like that, I'm afraid. It would be nice if it did, but it doesn't.

It's not that KOTOR 2 was a bad game. It's just that Obsidian had so much hype to live up to. Bioware is an experienced company: witness Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate. Obsidian, on the other hand, is practically a design virgin. Add to their relative inexperience the urgings from LucasArts to publish, and it's easy to see why KOTOR 2 is regarded as a failure. The original KOTOR was favorably compared to the movies. KOTOR 2 is favorably compared to RPGs. You can see the failings of this story.

Still, we are guaranteed one thing. Just like (relatively) poor endings of Halo 2 and Half Life 2, the questions left unanswered at the end of KOTOR 2 have pretty much ensured that we're getting a KOTOR 3. This time, I think Obsidian has got all of the time, funding, and technology it needs.
