The previous topic was my frustration and dissapointment going rampant, but what I was aiming at is that I'd really like to know the origin of that particular fraze.
Is it just a cold war leftover, kept alive by movies and nostalgia, a cliche without any truth in it or is it still a localized public opinion, oversimplified, but more or less correct?

I'm not old enough to give any insight on it's orogins though.
