Sin City: Just as fun as it sounds

*SPOILERS*

Okay, I saw Sin City on Sunday night and man, that movie ROCKED! The fighting, the acting, the stories, the nudity (Hey, I'm a guy, I can't help it!), the way the different plots were inter-twined; it was all Phenominal!

I tell you, this is by far the best movie I've seen this year. So much is alluded to, there are so many possibilities for a sequel, so many spin-offs, I'm getting giddy just thinking about it! Everybody and everything is complex and deep, nobody is a 'good guy' (Two of the main characters are murderers fresh out of prison and the third ends up killing himself), the hookers are strapped more than the National Guard, and it has Irish Mercenaries. Irish Mercenaries!

Anybody else love this movie as much as I do?

Didnt arrive here yet, but i really look forward to seeing it, as i love the works of Frank Miller and read he worked with the filming crew to get it right.

Why should I delete it? I've added a "Spoiler" warning at the start of the post, that should be good enough.

Not only did Miller make sure it was made right, but Rober Rodriguez (The director) actually auditioned to be allowed to make it. The first scene in the film was actually filmed by Rodriguez on his own and sent to Miller seeking permission to make the rest of the movie.

I saw the movie a couple days ago and I loved it as well. Complex, emotional characters back up some of the most violent sequences ever shown on TV. Hey, it has bald guys with swastikas tattooed on their heads laughing about an arrow that just sort of appeared through his chest. Does it get a whole lot better? It's no surprise that Quentin Tarentino was at least the guest director of the movie. It's like his dream movie.

Seriously dudes, this is like the fifth thread on this movie this week. More threads than the Pope...

While I appreciate the enthusiasm, don't you think the smileys are a bit much?

Thanks for the review, I've been keeping my eye on this one and will be definitely watching when it comes to the UK.
I'm hoping the HitchHiker's guide is as good at the end of the month, and that the Watchmen movie gets made...

It is? I didn't see any threads on the first page, but I probably should have clicked back a few pages to make sure. Oh, well. At least this movie is worth so many threads (Not saying the Pope isn't, this is directed more towards the thousands of "Bush sucks/rocks" threads we all see every day)

...

Dude, this movie is so good that if I was in the UK and knew how good it was I'd hop a flight to the States as soon as possible just to see it. I'd do the exact same if it was the reverse, a trip to the UK would totally be worth this movie. It's that good!

Okay.....maybe it's not that good (Trans-Atlantic airfare has to be a bitch) but it really is pretty damn sweet.

I saw it earlier tonight (well, I guess as of 6 AM it was technically last night), and I loved it...

I've never read Sin City (or anything by Frank Miller, I suppose... let alone many comics, period), but this movie was amazing...

Aside from it's many virtues that have been extolled here, I especially enjoyed the non-traditional style it had... Mostly black and white, except for splotches of color that were either random, or designed to emphasize something... And extremely nice use of light and dark contrast... Not many movie makers have the guts to do something that "outside of the box"...

Of course, from what I've learned of Sin City, that style was a necessity for this movie...lol

I like the fact that Hollywood seems to be opening up to this sort of "abnormal" movie style... Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow was another that was filmed in a very unique style, and I loved that as well...

But, let's be honest here... I really only went to see it for Jessica Alba...lol

Just went and saw it last night. Great movie, although the only thing I have to say is I'll never be able to watch Lord of The Rings the same ever again.

I also loved the movie; the cinimatography was incredible, and the plot was so intense. I enjoyed the minimal use of colour... I really felt like I was watching a moving comic book.

Beautifully dark piece of cinima in my opinion.

Well it's not my kind of movie from what I've heard but I might end up seeing it. I'm a major Star Wars fan so I can't wait until May 19th (Star Wars Episode III) http://ed.mullen.home.comcast.net/smileys/smiley_embarrassed_n.gif

It was alright. The way it was filmed was amazing, I'll give it that, and the many storylines were madly interesting. It was just...difficult to follow, at least for me. It seemed a bit skippy, at times. But that's just me, I guess. And the fact that I could never tell when it was going to end, that was annoying. I was like: alright, its over, WAIT WTF?!?!?!

But Kevin was madly interesting. The fact that *Frodo* played a mad serial killer who ate people was worth seeing the movie in itself. Heck, I'd see it again, just to be creeped out by Serial Killer Frodo.

I do have a question, however. My boyfriend is convinced that there's a level of mysticism underneath everything. For example, he believes Kevin to be a werewolf, that sort of thing. What thinks you guys?

I thought the movie was quite awesome.

Interesting follow-up question...which of the three stories was the best?

My order:
1. Marv's (Mickey Rourke)
2. Hartigan's (Bruce Willis)
3. Dwight's (Clive Owen)

I think number three was named Dwight, but don't put any money on that.

I really enjoyed their review for it. I think from now on I'll choose all my movies based on which ones they disapprove of.

My one gripe is that they call all immorality "pagan world view." I don't remember any polytheistic worship in that movie. Anyone see something I missed?

Ive never seen a movie where someone's dick is shot, hacked, or ripped off as many times as Sin City.

Hm... my topic seems to have been deleted, but the only problem with it may have been a bit of arguing and not going anywhere, which isn't against the rules. Does any1 know why my topic ("Will someone please join my relatively new region?") was deleted? Please tell me if you know.

Gravedigging. Thread Hijacking. Wrong forum.

I think that sums up what's wrong your post. Sorry Arathen, but you're more than a bit off what that post of yours.
