Favourite play ever?

Not really all that much to say, really, I was just wanting to go to the theatre again and was reminded of my most favourite play. The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui, by Brecht.

I really should've thought this through a little more, but never mind. This is quite probably the shortest first post I've ever done.

So with that out of the road, what do you consider to be the finest theatrical work of all time? Any genre, naturally.

King Lear, Shakespeare.

Granted, I'm not well-versed in theatrical performances, but I do love King Lear.

"Leonce und Lena" by Georg Büchner.

Too bad I can't afford tickets for the newest installment here in Berlin. I saw it on TV, though, It was just great.

Close seconds are:

Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett and Shakespeare's Macbeth.

I should really have more to say here, but sadly I don't. So instead of something like Brecht, which I should know more about, I'm going to go with some Miller-
Under the Bridge and I'm not even sure thats what its called.

I was a dramaturg on Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? for a major theater festival and grew a profound respect for that piece and Alby as a writer. That play is thicker than any one piece should be. For that matter Zoo Story is pretty cool. I just assisted in putting together a period pre-show radio deal for Waiting for Lefty, which is kinda cool but not 'greatest ever'.

My collaborator says Invention of Love by Stoppard, but he's a huge Stoppard guy. I haven't read it.

I do like Othello a lot, Iago is a fantastic character. Merchant of venice I like also, Shylock, natch. Something about Shakespeares villains that's so utterly great. I think it's the language, myself.

Saturday, Sunday, Monday is an incredible play
I've always wanted to see an actual performance of Romeo, You Idiot! I've never actually gotten the chance though. A little short played called Hard Candy is hilarious too.
