Are you a pessimist or an optimist?

Overall, do you tend to see things more in a negative or positive way? I'm not talking annoyingly bubbly everything-is-perfect-optimism, nor I-hate-my-life-kill-me pessimism here. Just overall. We all go up and down...but I tend to be mostly optimistic in life (and politics).

Same here. Still, I make sure to see the dark sside of life as much as the optimist's side. I think it helps reinforce my attitude.

I'm a very pessimistic person. I'm a firm believer in 'if something can go wrong, it almost certainly will'.

Dude, in another thread you just said people would kill and eat you. That's optimistic?

Depends if you want to be killed and eaten.

Dammit, now I'm gonna have to go back to work. When will you people learn not to make me laugh and alert my coworkers that I'm goofing off?

Murphy's Law (I think): Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong.

Pessimism? I call it realism. You aren't dissappointed with pessimism... or realism.

I'm an optimistic pessimist. The worst is going to happen but laugh at your pain and hey, why not everyone elses, and you'll be fine.

I almost put that as an option, but I thought everyone would then choose it, considering pessimism and optimism to be unrealistic. I don't think that's really the case though.

my father once told me that one's personal philosophy in life mostly boils down to a simple decision: do you want to be an optimist and a fool, or a pessimist and right?

I am a bit of both. I'm generally optimistic. I can get really badly suicidally negative though. But I always end up finding hope so I guess my optimism comes out top.

In that case, fools often change the world.

I normally describe myself as optimistically pessimistic. Sometimes I take great joy in being a cynical female dog, knowing the world sucks and enjoying it. Otherwise I tend to be optimistic.
I can be a bit of a worrier though.

Yeah yeah...

We'll see who's 'right' when the pessimists die of high blood pressure and the optimists drift by in blissful bliss:).

I'm an Optimist, but sometimes I got a razor sharp pessimist edge.

I believe that the world needs both kind of people, take this as an example:

The optimist invented the airplane, and the pessimist invented the parachute. :D

Optimetrist?

I'm pessimistic and paranoid. I believe (rather blindly) that life is constantly trying to piss me off constantly, uniquely and personally.

I was kidding around. I actually heard it, be an optimist and risk being a fool or be a pessimist and risk being right.

EDIT: Or hope you're not a fool and hope you're not right (though that one makes less sense - how do you hope when you're a pessimist)

I'm a pessimist. I find its a much happier life than being an optimist. If you expect the worst, you're prepared for it, and if everything turn out well, than you feel much better at having you expectations improved upon.
