livejournal suggestions...

I recently updated the look of my livejournal so it would be all nice. Only now it's a bitch to read.
I don't want to go back to having visible tables and plain backgrounds... but I want to be able to read the thing without having to highlight the writing.

If anyone has suggestions for a nice background picture that would allow font to easily be read... I don't really have much to use to make pictures with myself... perhaps if it gets nicer out I can go try taking some pics of my own and using them...

suggestions are welcome.

I don't have specific pictures to recommend, but I recommend that you do not make them static so that they don't scroll with the text. I don't know why people do this, when it makes scrolling the page with scroll wheels so uncomfortable.

And you'll see that if you make your font some other colour (maybe white), it'll be a lot easier to read with that specific background.

Looks good. If you don't want to change to much, you could lighten the picture in Paintshop Pro or something like that, and pick a darker color for the text. I don't have a pic in the background of mine, but if you look through some of the people in my friend's list, they have good ones. http://www.livejournal.com/users/hatamoto

Just go with a standard background, or something with white background at least, they ain't flashy, but they work. And they're highly readable.

I have a picture. It's pure black. Type over that with a light colored text and it'll be perfectly readable and easy on the eyes. The red text and the stars in the picture give me a headache. It's a pet peeve of mine when people use white backgrounds on their web sites. Take this message board for example. I have look look away every minute or two or I'll strain my eyes. Use a dark color for the background.

If you have something interesting to say and it's easy to read then people won't care if your web site isn't pretty. Although it can be tastefully designed even if it is minimalist.

No live journal will ever have a title so good as mine.

"Honi soit qui mal y pense"

Why is that so good (I understand what it means)? Mine is better, but then I won't whore my journal in such a cheap way. :p
